oh trust me, my head looked like i had dipped it in a bucket of grease for like a month when i stopped using shampoo.
Your body is used to the oil constantly being scoured away, so compensates by spewing it out. Once you stop removing the oil the scalp should eventually recalibrate and you enter the blissful state of your hair just always being nice.

I tried that decades ago, no results. I don’t wash my face with soap but my T zone is greasy in a few hours after a shower also. And unfortunately I have passed this trait onto my kids.
