For me, it’s about how I didn’t want to go to the shop in the first place and I want to do as little as possible there while I listen to music on my earbuds. I also prefer to pack my stuff without someone right there… the pressure!

The issue isn’t self check or in person or whatever for me, it’s having to wait in a line at all. Being able to just walk out takes so much less time than checking out.

Yeah but where I am there are lines for both, often self checkout is longer.

Exactly, which is why not having to checkout at all would be nice.
