BassTurd@lemmy.world 2 days agoNo, that would be the opposite. The noise captured and muddled in the shell is what gives the effect of hearing the ocean. Lose your ears and you remove some of that echo chamber.

Shells have edges, but I’ve never seen one that’s sharp. I think this shower thought more implies the shells are stored off you face and there’s a buffer between skin and shell, butt one could also get shells large enough to go over the ear.

The shells may not have inherently sharp edges, but if they're big enough to fit over your ears, and weren't caged in some convoluted way, if you rolled over and broke them, then you might have some sharp problems.
