And, people have been asking them to clarify it and they just say, “no.”
They’re acting very suspiciously.
- Comment on US committee is reconsidering all vaccine recommendations 1 week ago:
Makes wonder if that is exactly what it would look like to aliens. 👽
It could be how our species responds to overpopulation pressures. Though, I think wealth concentration is a more likely cause.
- Comment on Netflix Becomes Max-Level Patron Of Blender's Development Fund 1 week ago:
There have several reports recently of Netflix pressuring writers/directors/producers to create shows and movies tailored to distracted consumers. Basically, telling them to repeat plot points in dialog so that people ‘watching’ while doing other things can keep up.
I’d put that in the evil category along with advertising and media company consolidation.
- Comment on Elon Musk says Tesla ending Models S and X production, converting Fremont factory lines to make Optimus robots 1 week ago:
This will be a glorious failure.

I logged all of my work for years and it shows that I’m not a logger.
- Comment on What are super-computers used for ? 1 week ago:
Galaxy collisions, protein folding, mechanical design and much more. Big simulations of real world physics and chemistry that require massively parallel computation, problems that require insane numbers of calculations running on multiple machines that can pass data to each other very quickly.
Every supercomputing center has a website where you can read about the research being done on their machines.
No, these can’t be done at similar scale on your desktop. Your PC can’t do that many calculations in a reasonable time. Even on supercomputers, they can take weeks.
- Comment on In a 38-page essay, Dario Amodei warns of civilization-level damage from superintelligent AI, questioning whether humanity has the maturity to handle such power 1 week ago:
Fucking delusional twat. Either he’s on some serious drugs or this is some PR bullshit made to sound like he’s genuinely worried that Nobel laureate-level AI is right around the corner so that people will throw more money into his
pocketcompany. Or both, could be both. But, I think he’s simply an asshole. - Comment on I am surprised that no one has started selling shell headphones for sleeping. 2 weeks ago:
But, shells are sharp and wearing them that way is going to slice your ears off, anyway.
- Comment on Epic and Google have a secret $800 million Unreal Engine and services deal 2 weeks ago:
The only thing I respect about Tim Sweeney is that he has enough money to buy better looks but still looks like that. I mean, yeah, he looks like an insufferable dork/prick but he could afford to look like an insufferable dork/prick with hair, designer clothes and roided physique.
- Comment on I am surprised that no one has started selling shell headphones for sleeping. 2 weeks ago:
Might as well slice yours ears off. Same effect.
- Comment on Are you people all bots? 3 weeks ago:
There are bots. Some are self-identified and some even put ‘bot’ in the username. There are bots that just repost from Reddit, bots that post only articles from a specific site/publication—like the BBC bot.
There’s not as much use for Reddit-like karma farming bots because karma isn’t really a thing on Lemmy/piefed/etc. But, there are definitely bots that that post agenda-pushing content or SPAM pushing content.
I assume any account with only posts or extremely high post to comment ratio is a bot. I wish they would force participation requirements for posting.
You also have troll accounts and weird accounts that will make one controversial post and then ghost.
- Comment on LMAO too much ID tv here. If I wanted to bury a body in my yard, should I still call the hotline so I don't hit a gas line or something? I nominate this for stupid question of 2026 3 weeks ago:
If you hit a line you’ll be found out. Call the hotline dig the hole then install something like a clothes drying rack after depositing the body.
Make sure to put sod around it or a concrete pad otherwise it will be obvious that the hole was too big for the pole.
- Comment on I'm about to get fired. How do I make sure my next job is a better place to work? 3 weeks ago:
Make a list of all the things that went bad and turn them into questions for the interview.
For example, you say management is new and half the staff have left. Ask the new employer about turnover rates, how long people have been in their current position, how long with the organization, etc.
If they don’t offer it, ask to interview people in the position for which you are replying and people with whom you would work. Ask the how quickly they advanced, how the supervisors
Remember, you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.
Don’t wait for them to fire you. Get out there, now.
- Comment on What do all the subgenres of music mean? How does anyone make sense of them? 3 weeks ago:
The best way to learn this is by listening to music.
- Comment on What does that mean ? 3 weeks ago:
Don’t worry about it too much. I don’t judge anyone banned from that community harshly. The mod is… overzealous to say the least.
I consider myself progressive and I’ve checked out the modlog there. It’s a bit much.

This is an AI generated SPAM account.
There was a Wazal1 account that got banned for this crap. He’s avoiding the ban with this account.
Report it.

- Comment on Are there any art programs designed specifically for mouse users? 4 weeks ago:
Mouse users? As opposed to what? Stylus users? Touch?
Any software that can be used with a mouse can be used with stylus or touch. Any raster art program made for a personal computer will have mouse support.
It’s not clear what you’re even asking.
- Comment on We should make some ai blocker working like sponsorblock 4 weeks ago:
The worst part is that alternative search engines like DuckDuckGo and Ecosia seem to return those sites more than Google.
Google has become shit, no doubt. But, it’s still better than the alternatives. I think we need something like Yahoo!, again, but curated Wikipedia style.
- Comment on Inside ICE’s Tool to Monitor Phones in Entire Neighborhoods 4 weeks ago:
For iPhones, Find My only works powered off by Bluetooth connections to other devices. Unless someone is scanning and tracking Bluetooth radios, they can’t track you.
The vulnerability in the article is about apps that send location data back to a third party who makes it available to law enforcement.
Mainly, this is a problem for people who give any random app access to location data.

You’re right, parody is a better description than mockery.
- Comment on Tawny Newsome Gives Update On Live-Action Star Trek Comedy – “We’re Ready!” 4 weeks ago:
Has Star Trek jumped the shark?
ToS and TNG were always a bit cheesy but at heart they were morality plays and social commentary. I couldn’t get into much after TNG. I’ve been watching Strange New Worlds and it’s all right but the musical episode and some other bits were a bit too… campy?
But, a comedy? Is it becoming Galaxy Quest? The movie that mocked it?
- Comment on Microsoft Office has been renamed to “Microsoft 365 Copilot app” 4 weeks ago:
HBO execs are letting out a sigh of relief.
- Comment on Microsoft Office has been renamed to “Microsoft 365 Copilot app” 4 weeks ago:
“Let’s take the most recognizable software package name and make it something totally divorced from what the software is supposed to be for.”
There are probably people for whom Microsoft Office is the only desktop software that they use. There are probably many people in procurement that are going to scratch their heads and think twice about signing off on something that sounds like a flight simulator.
This is an opportunity for alternate office suites.

I would say, “never trust a CEO who wears a leather jacket.”
I’ve know plenty of bikers, punks, artists, etc that wear a leather jacket. But, a CEO in one stinks of, “hello there, fellow plebs.”
- Comment on NVIDIA Puts 100-Hour Monthly Limit on All GeForce NOW Subscriptions 1 month ago:
6.5 hours per day every weekend does not seem reasonable or healthy to me.
Hell, if someone was exercising that much or fishing or knitting or any hobby, it wouldn’t seem healthy. Once in a while, sure. But, not every weekend.

- Comment on Visa says AI will start shopping and paying for you in 2026 1 month ago:
Now, you may ask. “How is this different than autopay.” Well, for one, you no longer would have to configure your autopay with every single company, you just do it with your bank or cc company, making it more centralized and convenient.
But, that’s how I’ve been doing autopay for years. My utilities send the bill to my bank. My bank gives me the option of automatically paying it or logging into the bank and clicking a button.
This existed before the latest AI craze.

Trademark law would apply. Tolkien estate never used or even registered them as trademarks.
Another comment mentions Droid phone. In that case, Lucasfilm had registered “Droid” as a trademark.
