whaleross@lemmy.world 1 week agoYeah, thanks. I did it a couple of times with the free web dev vm of Windows 10 but it is only valid for 30 days so it gets annoying quickly. After identifying the chipset in some devices I’ve tried to get the Linux toolkit or just the flashing tool from the manufacturers but for whatever reason they will not give it out unless you are a customer of their chipset.

I use qemu/kvm with vm manager. There’s a lot of other options too. Most of them are valid indefinitely.
I use the Win11 LTSC IoT Enterprise Image, because it cuts out most of the usual windows bloat. Maybe have a look at massgrave.dev.
