You should teach your children to do the things you want them to do. That’s not a contradiction. If I wanted my child to leave the seat down I’d teach them that. If I wanted my child to leave the seat up I’d teach them that. If I wanted my child to do what I suggested earlier in the thread I’d teach them that.

The point is that if your suggestion earlier in the thread was optimal, you wouldn’t need to teach your children something different
