Comment on If God (or any creator of the universe) exists would he be made out of atoms?
ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 9 hours agoWhat do you think ROMAN Catholicism is? 🤔 It certainly isn’t Judaism/Abrahamic monotheism, the law and the prophets that Jesus followed, but its own thing. And if 1 = 3, what kind of lies can’t be built on top of that?

Roman Catholicism is the largest branch of Christianity. They believe the Bishop of Rome is a supreme pontiff over the Church. The Trinity is accepted in Protestantism, and also in the Eastern churches (Greek, Russian, Oriental, Coptic Orthodox, etc)
The Prophet Isaiah wrote of a Child who will be called “Almighty God”.
Isaiah 9:6-7
Jesus also claimed to be YHWH that Isaiah wrote about:
Isaiah 44:6-8
Revelation 22:12-13

I appreciate the effort because at the very least it shows you believe in something, which is rare in some parts of the world and certainly on Lemmy… but it’s not a dumbing down, it’s literally what it is. And any Trinitarian variant comes from the same Roman core, let’s not split hairs here, it literally started being dogma after the Council of Nicea, prompted and led by Constantine, the Roman emperor! It’s quite literally imperialistic appropriation. Regardless, it makes no sense and it never will. And belief in the unseen necessarily has no evidence to support it, but by itself, Trinitarianism is not internally consistent, things don’t follow nor fit.

The Council of Nicæa was in modern-day Türkiye, not Rome. Jesus preached that He is God and that the consciousness of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said “In the Name (singular) of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit”. The Old Testament also has Christophanies- where God appears as a man, like He did to Abraham.
Genesis 18:1-5
