Comment on Looking for a specific manufacturer of repairable notebooks

(offtopic: I’ve noticed the word “notebook” to refer to the same as “laptop” to become more common recently. I even had thoughts at some point that it’s a Russian localization curiosity, using the transcription of “notebook” for that.)
Nice machine. I’d wonder if it’s deliverable to where I am if I needed it.

The term ‘notebook computer’ has been around since the advent of modern computing, so it’s unrelated to Russia or any localisation

Yes, I understand that, I meant that it somehow felt for me that it’s a dinosaur term in English that nobody uses. Dunno why.

Any time i see “notebook computer” i immediately picture the crappy little net-book computers, with just enough power under the hood to run internet explorer

I had one such, HP something, with Atom and 1024x600 display. Ran Linux with
dwm, conkeror, mpdand even some games in Wine. I really liked that, actually. Except for the 1024x600 part, at least 1366x768 would be better.AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 2 days ago
Definitely less used, yeah. My personal wild ass-guess is that it’s less preferred due to potential confusion with actual paper notebooks.
