shani66@ani.social 1 day agoBetter Minecraft. Which you’d think would be incredibly easy to do, but the project has already basically failed before. My guess from all I’ve seen over the years is this is a real personal project for the dev rather than something that was ever actually intended to be released and getting a release is just a cool bonus for them.

Minecraft has a gigantic base of players and modders, a “better” Minecraft would need to draw a similar crowd or convince them all to give up years of customization and optimization to switch en masse.
Hard to imagine any game pulling it off without going F2P, which, bleh.
Player base doesn’t determine what’s better, the most popular things are often the worst
