Isn’t there some kind of sketchy corporate structure they could use to skirt this is they actually cared about data sovereignty?
“Sorry Feds, this data is actually held by Microsoft EU and not Microsoft”.
Or do they only do that sketchy shit for dodging taxes and protecting people’s data is a bridge too far?

It does not work anymore. It used to work, that is why America passed the cloud act: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CLOUD_Act

Okay so AFAIK this concerns when US companied have foreign subsidiaries. What if foreign companies have US subsidiaries? Can the parent company’s data stored outside the US be required from the US subsidiary?
