Definitely invest sooner rather than later. Chronic lung diseases are a living hell.
Comment on I've spent 3 days working in dust tearing down this bathroom
Perspectivist@feddit.uk 5 hours agoI do, and I have a good one too. My issue however is that because of my beard none of them seal perfectly. I’ll likely just have to invest into a powered one at some point because I do this for living and there’s plenty of more dusty work ahead of me.

Yeah, I can’t argue with that.

I very much want a PAPR as well. I seem to recall that there were some units that came out of COVID that are somewhat cheaper, at least.

I used one for welding in my previous job. It has the additional benefit of keeping your face cool by blowing fresh air onto it and being a full face it protects your eyes too nor does it fog up.

I hadn't even thought of that! I did some oxyacetylene welding many moons ago and I remember the heat being absolutely intolerable at times.
I do machining as a hobby now and I'd really like to filter out cutting oil smoke. My biggest fear using a PAPR is my shop is the hose—I'd need to find a way to keep it REALLY close to my body. I don't want to get pulled into my lathe face-first.

One like this might work if you don’t want to mess with hoses.
