RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world 1 week agoI like Evangelion specifically because most of it wasn’t intended to have a meaning. Anno just put it in the show because he thought it looked/sounded cool.
This is similar to why I like games from Hideo Kojima. Its just filled with stuff he thought is cool. It doesn’t always have to have a meaning or explanation.

Metal Gear Solid really clicked for me even though it had some strange shit going on with it too. Maybe because the tone and pacing was handled pretty well. The Patriots, Les Enfants Terribles, and even Revolver Ocelot’s arm possession just fit the narrative quite nicely.
