I’m happy they gave Elrand a likable voice and animation. In the light novels he comes off as utterly unlikable and that always felt wrong somehow. In the anime he has a completely different feel and I think it’s a good change. Maybe that’s how he is in the JP source as well and it got lost in translation.

Agree on utterly unlikable but he was supposed to be quite competent when dragons are not involved. He was an S-rank adventurer and guild master for probably at least decades after all.

In the EN light novel his obsession with dragons felt more like that of a pervert to me. As if he couldn’t wait to be alone with the dragon corpse to fuck it. In the anime he comes across more like an innocent fanboy who meets his idol. I assume that that was how it was supposed to be, but the English translation isn’t very good. His competency never gets questioned in both.
Has someone here read the manga? How is he depicted there?
