- Comment on Western Digital runs out of HDD capacity: CEO says massive AI deals secured, price surges ahead 1 week ago:
Unbuffered ECC DIMMs can be used as-is even on PCs not supporting ECC
Registered DIMMs can be unsoldered and the RAM chips reused in a pinch I suppose?
But reports of manufacturing capacity being moved to HBM will not benefit consumers if the bubble bursts.

How the heck did the villagers live in this location where strong monsters ran rampant before Van came along?
Selling advanced military technologies like that ballista to another lord before even letting your own lord know? Could be taken as treason.
“Please stop the monster and we’ll shoot ballistas at it while it is down” – right, you could have done it the last two times at the outer wall but you didn’t.
I usually don’t mind these kind of “turn off your mind and enjoy” shows, but there are just so many things that gave me pause with this one.

The manga has a weird reputation: the mangaka took the setting and basically did their own thing ignoring the source novel, but the novel author still praised and recommended it, and it got somewhat popular.
The design of the characters seems to follow the manga, maybe the story will as well?

Wait Yuri got Levi to tell him who the Engineer was? Levi wasn’t suppose to do that and it shouldn’t have had that information anyway (otherwise it could have resolved who is the fake Engineer in other loops).

- Comment on Why do you need a launcher? (asking older gamers actually) 4 weeks ago:
One reason is Achievements. You need software to track it, and it is better to let the platform do it and consolidate all the common code and related UI, but that means there would be a platform process (e.g. Steam launcher / GOG Galaxy) running in the background to process them.
- Comment on [Episode] Gnosia - Episode 15 discussion 4 weeks ago:
I must be really bad at this game, I had no clue what was happening and was surprised by the result.
Nevertheless Racqio could not keep his mouth shut and screwed up by revealing too much to Yuri.
Someone observed Jonas actually told the truth every time, even if by accident. We only knew he was fake because Yuri was shown to be the real Engineer.

IMO they should give another reason for not selling those crystals, for example not wanting something so dangerous to mages out in the market. It doesn’t make sense when they were short on cash and not make use of the solution lying right on the ground.

Thanks for the break down.
I don’t get why Yuri didn’t let everybody know there is an AC Follower on board. It will be bad for humans if for example they freeze the AC Follower, the doctors confirms the ACF being human, and everybody try to deduct thinking everything ACF said was true.

Those (and coffee stains) can be a pain to remove if you don’t act quickly enough or have done it correctly.
I must say I was a little relieved when the stain came off since the customer said it happened a week ago.
- Comment on [Episode] Gnosia - Episode 13 discussion 1 month ago:
I am not sure what to make of Yuri unilaterally making the decision for putting Setsu in the freezer. The time off was probably necessary for Setsu’s mental well-being, but doing so endangered everyone else of that loop (Yuri was not Gnosia and Setsu was probably not, so they reduced human count by 2).
I get the impression Yuri feels he/she can sacrifice individual loops if necessary, whereas Setsu is more rigid and wants to follow rules and win every loop. So in the other loop, I got confused why there was a problem of sharing information with Setsu (who turned out to be Gnosia), when it might only endanger the current loop and AFAWK not future ones. Maybe getting erased is painful?
I’m not sure I could have recalled who the members were for every past loop if I were Yuri. And I definitely can’t draw chibi characters they capture their looks nicely.
We got a tad closer to the truth, but Yuriko said Yuri’s deduction was wrong. They also started their conversation as if it was a continuation of a few previous loops prior. Did Yuriko know about other loops or was she just bluffing? She also seemed to have a lot of information she was withholding, why?

This apparent SoL anime starts off showing us scenery from the city of Atami. We follow the story of Kinme Wakana, who has run a cleaning business in the neighborhood for 2 years. Cleaning was “the only thing I have not forgotten” she said casually to a customer, so she probably had a backstory which will be revealed later I guess?
There is not much drama in the first episode (unless you consider “will the pasta sauce stain come off” as one), we are introduced to several of her customers who all seemed to be nice people, or that Wakana got on their good side through her diligence, nice manners and good work.
The production quality was good, I wouldn’t say top-tier but definitely above average. I liked the nice backgrounds and scenery view.
@rikka@ani.social :
The author also wrote Umisho and Sankarea, I hope this one will stay a everyday SoL anime and Wakana was not someone reverse-isekai’d who lost her memory or something, I wouldn’t mind it too much but I’ve had my fill of isekai stories recently :)

I liked the manga but the author took frequent breaks and I lost track of it. Not sure how far into the story the anime will go, last I remember the manga was not going to conclude soon but it’s been a while.

- Comment on AI-generated isekai novel that won a literary contest Grand Prize and Reader’s Choice award has its book publication and manga adaptation cancelled 1 month ago:
I read on Japanese news the author claimed Alphapolis changed the rules after the fact, which is true (the rules against AI were added after the submission deadline of the contest), but I don’t feel that justified submitting something predominantly written by AI as one’s own work.
- Comment on That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 broadcast starts April 2026 with 5 split cours 2 months ago:
According to JP wikipedia, its meaning is closer to a quarter (of a year). So for weekly anime 12 to 13 episodes per cour is correct, though there are both shorter and longer exceptions. For something like NHK’s daily drama I believe they still call a show 2 cour even though it has 150+ episodes.
- Comment on That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 broadcast starts April 2026 with 5 split cours 2 months ago:
Possibly related to working conditions reform in recent years, which unfortunately new PM Mrs. “discard work-life balance” Takaichi is trying to dial back. It might be also harder to get enough manpower together now that more shows are made each season.
Spreading production out in time probably let them get more done in house and get a more consistent and higher quality output too.
- Comment on That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 broadcast starts April 2026 with 5 split cours 2 months ago:
I saw this happen with Hyakushou Kizoku / Noble Farmer, it was officially 3 seasons made separately, but it numbered the episodes consecutively and even included episodes not broadcast on TV within its numbering. So thetvdb labels the first episode of the second season is S02E01, while tmdb thinks that it is S01E13, but it is episode number 15 according to its in-show title.
In the end, what is called a season is just quite arbitrary and up to the rights holders.
My feeling is a budget / production commitee / crew is put together for each season, and even if cours were split they were planned and announced together, but this is not always true either. Two or more seasons can be planned and announced at the same time, in some cases seasons aligns with major story arcs and there can be a production time gap in the middle of an arc.
I imagine people designing database for these stuff pulling their hairs out trying to get it right, only to have some wacky show break their assumption…… again.
