Comment on Jesus was Jewish, but Christians aren't
Flax_vert@feddit.uk 10 hours agoThe documentation at the time is pretty clear. The Romans were scared of a Jewish uprising so crucified Jesus.
At Pentecost, Peter told the Jews they crucified Jesus
Acts 2:23
this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
Acts 2:36
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”
Acts 4:10
let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well.

You can’t use the acts as evidence for this, since they’re internally inconsistent versus the other gospels and the Pauline epistles. Current scholarship clearly puts the blame on the Romans. This is backed up by Pontius Pilate being well known for being a brutal ruler, and not one who cared much for Jewish sensibilities.

Current scholarship? You mean Bart Ehrman- some guy who came about 2000 years after the fact and has been debunked over and over again, and is generally one who is known for making pretty bad takes and arguments. Even here the redditor claims he says:
When mosy of the records about Him document Him claiming that.
There are no inconsistencies in Acts of the Apostles either.
