Comment on Severe bug with save file
Transcendant@lemmy.world 1 year agoI had a similar issue with Baldur’s Gate 3, I save relentlessly but whatever went wrong it made my saves unloadable going right back near to the start of my game… losing 25+ hours of decisions was pretty crushing and made me not want to play at all.
It turned out to be due to an update for one of the mods I use, fortunately the mod creator changed his mind about blocking archived versions after I made my case and after a week or so of sad trombone noises everytime I tried to get into my save, I was able to restore my game. I hope you find a solution to this problem because who’s to say it won’t occur again. Are you using any mods?
Yeah I think I’m gonna have to start manual saving after certain quests. But no, I’m not using any mods. Ended up rolling to a save I had backed up way back, lot of lost progress but it is what it is.
I’m gonna edit the post to add what I think was the thing that started this bug.

I had the same thing happen to me with BG3, but I kept trying the same save over and over and it eventually worked after a few times (Really, I only tried like 3 or 4 times before it worked.) Still don’t know what happened, but that time I didn’t end up losing any progress and it continued to work fine after that.
