My bet, A youtuber discovered the game and made videos that did reasonably well in the indie audience, then other youtubers picked up and it snowballed some. I’ve been seeing more coverage of the game on youtube for a couple of years now.
- Comment on Monthly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing? 6 months ago:
That game’s closer to 20 years old. It’s been a very long time since I’ve played it. It was way back when gaming on Linux was mostly limited to games that had a native Linux release.
- Comment on Nginx core developer quits project in security dispute, starts “freenginx” fork 8 months ago:
Your spoiler tag works fine on the web client. That is the supported way to do spoilers on Lemmy. However, Sync, if you use that doesn’t support Lemmy spoilers and only supports reddit spoilers. Unfortunately no matter what spoiler method you use, it will not work for someone, somewhere. There is no unified spoiler markup across the fediverse, but there really should be.
- Comment on Spotify just changed TOS, giving them unprecedented rights to create "derivative works" from audiobooks 8 months ago:
I saw this getting traction on Tik Tok a few days ago warning rightsholders they have until, I think, Mar 5th to pull their content from the platform.
- Comment on Detroit Become Human caught me by surprise 8 months ago:
Unfortunately, there isn’t a spoiler format that works for all cases. There’s not much you can do. It was just a warning since you were obviously trying to mark spoilers I thought I’d let tou know they just don’t work.
- Comment on 8 months ago:
Recent news that they would be releasing games that would have previously been exclusive to X-Box on other platforms such as Playstation has led to many a rumour that MS may be planning to stop developing the console at all.
- Comment on Detroit Become Human caught me by surprise 8 months ago:
Those style of spoilers are not supported on Lemmy except in the Sync app. For literally everyone using the web, or accessing the content through the fediverse from other federated services, those are just plain text visible for everyone to see.

- Comment on Whatever Happened to SimCity? 8 months ago:
Well yes, ultimately that was the problem in the end. But they had 2 good releases under EA before that happened. Somewhere along the way EA went entirely to shit and Sim City was one of many casualties.

The series shit the bed with the online only bullshit with small maps, and then Cities Skyline came along shortly thereafter to steal their lunch.

There kinda is a movie with a premise similar to that. Violent Night
- Comment on What's your favorite game that you will NEVER finish? 9 months ago:
I can’t speak for the parent, but I don’t remember ever getting past Nova Prospekt. Not because I didn’t want to, it’s just that every time I’ve started playing I get distracted right around that part. But I have a serious problem of not being able to finish games, I get distracted by other games far too easily.

I wish there were more pedantic people regarding the difference. The more it gets diluted the harder it becomes to find the proper roguelikes.
- Comment on Starfield End of the Year Update 10 months ago:
Someone, somewhere thought it looked cool and marketing people have been copying it ever since to make their site “pop”.
- Comment on Starfield End of the Year Update 10 months ago:
I can see why you might think that, but that’s not how it works. All of the text is downloaded up front, but is hidden initially. It is made to appear as you scroll, but it does not get the text via additional web requests. If you view the page source, or inspect element you can see it all there.
- Comment on Jeff Bezos plays down AI dangers and says a trillion humans could live in huge cylindrical space stations 10 months ago:
So an O’Neil cylinder exploits rotation to simulate gravity. When set up properly it feels just like gravity we’re used to here on earth. That should at least help curb the effects of microgravity. Radiation shouldn’t be much of a problem as people would be living on the inside of the cylinder with meters of material between them and outer space.
- Comment on Baldur's Gate 3 out now on Xbox 10 months ago:
I’m pretty sure they meant day 1 on x-box. X-Box players get to play the polished version of the game from the moment they get it. They get the version that already has all of those patches on day one.

I’m not sure the game is popular enough to get quite the modding support of the community like previous Bethesda games.
- Comment on YouTube intensifies fight against ad blockers showing pop-ups, and users are frustrated | Blocking ad-block users 1 year ago:
The only issue I have with freetube is that I sometimes like to click on the recommended videos on YouTube’s front page. If I switch to freetube entirely, I’ll lose that. But if uBlock doesn’t continue to work I will make the switch and the YouTubers I wouldn’t normally see just won’t get my views any longer.
- Comment on YouTube intensifies fight against ad blockers showing pop-ups, and users are frustrated | Blocking ad-block users 1 year ago:
Probably just lucky. They didn’t roll it out to all Firefox users at once. I got it several days after other Firefox users started reporting getting the popup. I followed the instructions to update my quick fix list in uBlock and it’s gone again. However, the first time I did it it came back after a day, so it may just be a never ending game of whack a mole.

Yeah, I just commented to another user about the same things. Seems they’re doing some A/B testing or something like it. No worries, I understand uBlock has an update available that addresses it already.

There’s no test group
They are almost certainly talking about a test group on YouTube, not uBlock Origin. Sites do that sometimes, it’s called A/B Testing. Where different users will get different versions of the site to test something or other before changes are rolled out for all users.

I ended up googling cancel amazon prime, and that led me to a page with a cancel button.
- Comment on Wait, is Unity allowed to just change its fee structure like that? | Confusing, contradictory terms of service clauses leave potential opening for lawsuits. 1 year ago:
Many of the other comments on this post are misinformed and based on past versions of Godot. But Godot has recently had an update that has focused primarily on improving it’s 3D support. I get the impression that many people looked into Godot version 3.x, and never bothered to look any further. It’s true that it’s not as mature as Unity, but that takes time and it will eventually get there. But people are unfairly disregarding, at the moment based on past versions being focused on excellent 2D support but mediocre 3D support.
- Comment on Severe bug with save file 1 year ago:
I had the same thing happen to me with BG3, but I kept trying the same save over and over and it eventually worked after a few times (Really, I only tried like 3 or 4 times before it worked.) Still don’t know what happened, but that time I didn’t end up losing any progress and it continued to work fine after that.

That unfortunately, doesn’t appear to be true. My landing cinematics are a thing of the past no mater how I get to the landing option. Perhaps it’s a bug and not everyone’s experience.
