Comment on Harvard dropouts to launch ‘always on’ AI smart glasses that listen and record every conversation
turmacar@lemmy.world 23 hours agoGoogle Glass purposefully made it obvious what they were. The newer glasses without cameras from Meta et al basically look like regular glasses if you can’t see the waveguide in the lenses.

If you know what you’re looking for, they’re not that difficult to spot. But, yeah, to most people, they would just appear to be regular sunglasses. This is a huge problem. It’s one thing when you’re being recorded by someone who is obviously holding a camera. It’s another one, potentially, dozens of people around you could be recording everything all the time without anyone else, knowing it.
That only is a potential for abuse incredibly high, the fact that Meta ends up owning all of the content so they can harvest it for monetary gain is even worse.

Wasnt there someone who hacked their google glasses and was getting everyone’s home addresses around him on facial recognition? I would think the risk would be fairly high to people who work with the public from these folks
