Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 2 days agoYea I agree fully that having individuals that own the one or two platforms is bad.
I don’t think much of the fear and panic is warranted though.
Honestly view these headlines the same way you’d view headlines about any other bullshit hysteria that media drums up. It’s all so weirdly familiar.

This is so similar to crypto to me. The base technology and idea is great but many of the implementations are problematic and I have high hopes for it with free software, not for profit, and more boring uses around it.

Ok good example. The left took a hard stance. The right adopted it. A lot of right wing people made a lot of money with it regardless of its practicalness. They used that money to invest in each other.
The left somehow has become Luddites and they’re falling behind yet don’t see how that mentality is holding hobbling their progress

Falling behind in what way? Financial advantage? I’m not sure that the left have ever had that. How would adopting AI aid the left’s cause?

He’s correct. Leftists and Liberals (myself included) see the dangers of A.I. and have been hardcore against its current stage of applications while moderates make shitty AI cat videos and MAGA use it for deepfakes and other means of misinformation at the touch of a button.

Yeah its very similar to graft and extortion in that way. The left really needs to get onboard.

Extortion? How so?
