        Dropping the nukes likely saved several million more civilians lives,Imperial Japan was a truly horrific state which genuinely outstripped the third Reich at times in cruelty.

      There’s a lot of leeway in the meaning there. Nuking them might have been bad, but the best choice we had in a shitty situation. I’d be ok with that interpretation.
