Unfortunate yes, security guards in shopping malls used to carry machine guns lol when I was living there when I was younger, not anymore though I think.

Even as a kid getting armed cops in schools after 9/11, I have always really hated seeing guns in public. Especially when it’s a mall cop, you know? That sucks.

We had an armed cop in my 80s high school, long before Columbine made school shootings a sport. Also, this was a solidly middle-class school, not exactly rough.

What’s your point, that it’s fine and dandy? I’ve done more than my share of fun with guns, but even I think it’s just plain weird for kids to see a guy with a gun every single day of their lives.

I had assumed guns were not only frowned upon but flat out illegal in the Philippines. Wife was talking about moving back when we retire. “Meh, it would sure suck selling all my guns and not being able to shoot or gunsmith again.”
She looked at me strange, “We have many guns. My cousin runs a gun shop. What are you talking about?”
Then I watched some videos. They’re 1911 fanatics like me! I have found my people.
