Agreed, but religion is only one manifestation of the problem. We need to evolve beyond uncritical devotion regardless of the form. Sports, celebrities, personalities, technology, cosmetics, etc - all have pretty unhinged devotees. Causing similar problems.

My religious in-laws as why I dont believe in their god and I have to patiently explain that I view their religion in the same way as I see Greek or Egyptian mythology. Just a silly superstition used to explain things they don’t have actual answers to. They really hate that.

I’ve been figuring out a way to approach these subject with my family when the topic comes up. These Christian fascist that are making these laws are not followers of the Christ. The Christ threw money lenders and business men out of the temple. He didn’t cozy up to them, make deals with them, and end up protecting pedos. These so called Christians are really perverted by demons.
Or some shit idk. I’m still workshopping how I can break through to some of the religious folks around me.

I appreciate the attempt, but MAGA is a cult. These “religious” people are rabidly following the most unchristlike person alive today. Logic and reason won’t sway them. My advice to my wife is to find the cracks I their faith in this man and slowly tap wedges into them.

My mom saw the NDT clip where he says God is just a receding pocket of unknowns (I’m paraphrasing the hell out of it because I can’t remember the actual wording).
I think part of her realizes that he is right because while she kinda hates all non-fundie people, she really REALLY doesn’t like him. I’m guessing because she sees that line of thought as a big threat.
But if I ever get into it with her, I will make absolutely sure to bring that idea in to it, just to watch her squirm.
