@kimlockhartga I didn't realize that it was part of a duology, but I was pretty excited when I got to the end and found out that there would be more.
I think part of it is that I know I can trust Becky Chambers.
There are a few authors whose books I've read expecting a trilogy and they never got past the second book.
I appreciate what Michelle West did and when she got dropped by her publisher, she took to Patreon and we've been sponsoring the final books in her series.
Rosemary Kirstein also took to Patreon, but it's been 10 years or so since her last book and I have a feeling that we're never gonna find out what happens in the end. Which is fine. I don't mind supporting authors when I can.

@CuriousMagpie @bookstodon You have a great attitude!
I sometimes get apoplectic when I realize that we might not ever get another book from a favorite author. I have been dying, for years, for a new Erin Morgenstern novel (author of The Night Circus, and The Starless Sea). She kept saying that she was working on something, but it's been seven years. My hope isn't gone, but it's fading. I hope this will be a Scott Hawkins situation where we find out there's a new book, after ten years of no novels (though he did write some computer programming books during that time).
@kimlockhartga
Well, I figure we're not suffering from a lack of other novels to read 😆 and I sure do know what it's like when you hit a dry spell and there's just nothing there.
@bookstodon
@CuriousMagpie @bookstodon You are absolutely right. There is never a shortage of good books to read! Plus, I have like 200 "favorite" authors; it's just that some are like "favorite favorite." 😁
