Lanusensei87@lemmy.world 1 month agoPeople just don’t want to quit because the alternatives aren’t populated enough… Which is caused by people not leaving. Twitter is to many a necessity for their business, just like many softwares provided by scum companies.

I do think that bluesky has a ton of momentum right now and is a viable alternative. But the thing about microblogging sites is that if the specific people you want to follow aren’t on them, there’s not really a substitute. I know I’ve heard people say that, for example, a lot of japanese game developers are still primarily on twitter (I’ve never been a twitter/bsky enjoyer so I can speak to it personally).
