  see i have no problem with thin silicone cases, that just seems like common sense.
  but the thick ones i do not understand, how would you end up in a situation where you need that much protection for something as light as an earbud case? Surely the silicon sleeve is just there to prevent scratches?

    For the fancier aftermarket case cases, it really is prudent.
