When people say America they are 99% of the time referring to the US - otherwise it’s made clear in the conversation that they are talking about “the Americas” or it’s already been made clear it’s about companies or people in the Americas.
Don’t be disingenuous - saying “Africa” has no comparison to talking about the US, and bands? Wtf do bands have to do with anything? And again, I’m sure a band from Uganda, playing traditional Ugandan music would bristle at being generically labelled “African”.

I don’t know any companies offhand, but die antwoord from South Africa is a really fun band and a lot of their songs are worth a listen (music videos are great too).
Amadou and Mariam is another African band that’s seriously worth a listen, they’re really talented and have some bangers. I only learned this right now but apparently they’re both blind and sometimes perform concerts in the dark??? “Dougou badia” played live in the pitch dark would be such an experience fr
