Do you even need to ask? It’s in the name, ID every1!
Comment on The Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 is an affordable EV for the masses

Ok mr reviewer
Why don’t you tell us less about WV’s strategy a more about how the car is.
Does it spy on you? What kind of EULA will I need to agree to? Does it have car play/android auto? Does it have a 4G antenna to connect to VW servers even if I don’t enable the feature? Does it have an app? In what ways is VW going to try to get subscription money from me? How much does servicing cost? How much will a set of brake pads cost? Does VW support 3rd party repair shops? Does VW try to lockdown parts and forbid 3rd party repairs? Can it be remotely disabled? By me, by VW, by law enforcement? What happens when the battery needs replacing?

Review what? It’s a concept. This is basically an ad. lol
SippyCup@feddit.nl 2 months ago
The car he’s reviewing does not exist. He has some technical specs and a few renders to review.

Does it spy on you?
All new cars do and this one doesn’t even hide it, it’s called “id everyone”.

Not to mention that VW lied to its customers before with the emissions scam…

Funny how you’re asking questions that no real human cares about when shopping for car…

I’m a person, I care
Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
Are you though? 🤔
oldfart@lemm.ee 2 months ago
What do your people ask then? “Does it come in red too?”
Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
The average person doesn’t give a crap about all the privacy stuff, they care about range, how it drives, the warranty, the options.
People who care about privacy will never win this fight because normies will keep buying the cars.

It’s a concept car; none of those things are actually known or knowable yet.
lefixxx@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Fair
Ulrich@feddit.org 2 months ago
Ehhh I think it is. You should pretty much expect all of those things from any new car.
Consumers have spoken and they don’t care about privacy, reliability or repairability.
Patch@feddit.uk 2 months ago
Concept cars are, by definition, not actually finished. Nobody will be able to buy the car that was being shown at the car show. The car that will be on sale in 2-3 years will be a thematically similar but fundamentally different creature.
Things like the onboard computer software/hardware/data sharing model won’t be defined yet. VW’s first party servicing costs or the price of replacement brake pads are not defined yet. It’ll be a job for a future car journalist to report on all those things once it’s actually defined.
Ulrich@feddit.org 2 months ago
Yes I understand what a concept car is. That changes nothing about my comment because it wasn’t about this specific car.
winni@lemmy.world 2 months ago
this is not true. I am avoiding Hyundai-Kia for this reason
Ulrich@feddit.org 2 months ago
And buying what instead?
lefixxx@lemmy.world 2 months ago
How do you know? What car would somebody buy if they cared about those things? There are no choices. There is not enough competition to have enough choices.
Ulrich@feddit.org 2 months ago
Because at one time there was a choice.
Tyfud@lemmy.world 2 months ago
A lot of that isn’t known until nearly the last minute. Especially any of the hard metrics like mp/kwh, range, and especially any infotainment specifics.
Ulrich@feddit.org 2 months ago
There’s nothing on that list that will be unique to this vehicle.

I feel like the title of the article should really be future tense.
