I take issue with this review. Quake was awesome. The aesthetic, the graphics, the soundtrack and sound effects, the multiplayer, the weapons, all of them even today kick ass.

It doesn’t sound like you played multiplayer. Which was kinda the point of quake.

Your assumption is correct, I only played singleplayer and talked about the singleplayer here.
I played a bit of Quake 3 Arena back in the days, but would consider the multiplayer part of Quake nearly its own thing.

Well yeah. It was always the main thing. Quake 3 is just the first one where id was upfront about it.
