“Human Nature” doesn’t exist all history has shown what is called “human nature” is nothing but changeable societal enforced ideals.

“If everyone were on the same page”
Yea, like that could ever happen. This is a denial of fundamental human nature.
Even worse is your hubris in assuming the priorities you believe are “right” everyone else should agree with you.

You don’t think society collectively should prioritize making sure our species doesn’t die a horrific preventable death?
After the last fish is caught and the last tree dies, we’ll finally realize we can’t eat money.
Society is collectively refusing to prevent our doom because of imaginary, socially constructed, economic restrictions

People don’t think that way.
I know I shouldn’t work for evil Inc but I need to pay rent next month.
Yeah but that won’t be an issue for many years so I’ll be far past dead and it’s someone else’s issue.
If I can set it up so my children control the last source of fresh water in the area they will be powerful and envied. My lineage will continue far into the future.
Yes working cooperatively would be beneficial but most people prioritize themselves.

That’s my point. It’s very difficult to ask people on an individual level to prioritize the environment, which is why it woukd require societal cooperation

Except this is just not true for the vast majority of humanity its not “human nature” but socially upheld material culture.

Where is it not true?

you might not be able to eat money, but you can use it to build climate controlled greenhouses and fisheries
