mind@lemmy.world 1 year agoThat is misleading, because the GDP per capital has increased at the same time standards of living fell.
There isn’t less wealth per person, there’s more inequality.
We’re living at a time of abundance, but it’s not being distributed as evenly as in the past.
There’s no inherent reason people can’t have homes, healthcare, and affordable college. It’s just that increased productivity was counterbalanced by even more concentration of wealth and power.

Anytime someone claims to know why the economy behaves the way it does I am immediately skeptical. Unless thr reason is to establish inequality we should see able to use the information to establish a better syatem.
