I’m not sure what to make of this. I probably shouldn’t be thinking too deep into this, but portraying not wanting a monarchy as an evil thing or giving out free food as a bad thing is a bit… weird

Yeah, his objections to absolute monarchy aren’t wrong, but his solution of simply becoming a de facto monarch by turning the next king into a puppet is also not any better.
