I fear for the use of AI translation. That’s how they’re doing the one-shots.

I personally think the current ones are fine as they are, though I do like your suggestion “Recommendation” instead of “RT/WT”. Maybe shorten it to “Rec” though, so it doesn’t take up so much space. “DISC” covers most use cases pretty well. By specifying it to “Episode”/“Chapter”, you exclude things like films, one-shots and specials. I suppose you could fine-grain it more, but I don’t really see the point tbh, unless we know it’s confusing people.

This season I watched:
- Dr. Stone: ended up being disappointed in this. It built further on an already shaky foundation and didn’t really deliver on it. Felt more like filler in the end.
- Dandadan: up until the Evil Eye arc it was great, but the episodes after were kinda boring and introduced a character I really didn’t like. Still fun though.
- Silent Witch: this was a fun one. Nothing special, but I liked it a lot.
- Sakamoto Days: same as last season. Pretty fun, though I’m not so much into the supernatural aspects, which I feel got upped this season.
- Gachiakuta: like it a lot, particularly the setting. Banger OP.
- With You And The Rain: delightfully relaxing. Loved every episode. Amazing OP.
- My Dress-Up Darling: good stuff, just like last season.
- Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex: nice comfort watch. Was a bit rushed near the end though.
- Clevatess: good fantasy anime. It’s building an interesting world that I’d like to see more of. It’s more than just a default fantasy rpg setting. Banger OP

Yeah, you can definitely tell Shiro’s an early 2000s VN protagonist. Unfortunate to see it be a dealbreaker for you in the end, but fair. I think ufotable did what they could if you compare it to the Deen adaptation. If the world interested you, maybe Fate/Zero is a good one for you. That was my gateway into Fate.

I didn’t like this ep. This whole season felt like filler. There’s hardly been any progression. We’re at pretty much the same spot as before this season, just with some more petrified people. The non-chalance of just reviving Xeno, who didn’t mind all of them being ruthlessly murdered because reasons, is wild to me. Xeno et all are irredeemable.
The whole “chased by soulless soldiers that are aching to kill bunch of teens” thing was completely unnecessary and over the top. It didn’t really add much to the story as a whole and the whole vibe of it felt really out of place.
I also disliked that part because the basis for it was so shaky already. My issue with the previous season was already the completely unjustified animosity towards Senku and co. Not in a “I dont like the justification” way, but in a “this is barely explained at all” way. Xeno and co attacked immediately in that season because… reasons. That’s the basis in Science Future p1 and that’s still the basis for the chase of p2, even though that’s not the goal of p2.
While watching p2, I just accepted that the basis for it was shaky, and took it for what it was. It was decent because of that, but this episode made me reconsider the whole thing again.

I didn’t even watch half of the ones you mentioned haha. Of the ones you mentioned, I watched Silent Witch, Dandadan and My Dress-Up Darling.
Takopi scares me. I don’t do well with constantly emotionally heavy anime.
Rascal I wanted to rewatch S1 and the movie first, but haven’t gotten around to it.
Fragrant Flower I want to try, but sticking to the manga for now.

- Comment on What are the visually-best anime you're seen? 2 weeks ago:
No one does 3D graphics better in anime than Ufotable and KyoAni to an extent. If you want to find better 3D animation, you have to go west and look for the likes of Disney/Pixar.
I mostly agree, but I think studio Orange is missing from that list. They’re the only studio that has made great-looking full 3D anime.
Which brings me to one of my favourites visually: Land of the Lustrous. Gorgeous 3D animation and great action scenes. The reflective “hair” of the characters is only possible due to the 3D.
Other favourites are:
- Violet Evergarden and Liz and the Blue Bird: KyoAni at their absolute best.
- Monogatari Series: it’s not up there for animation (though it’s not bad at all by any means), but it is for its style.
- Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel: absolutely gorgeous and crisp animation. Ufotable at their best (I haven’t seen Demon Slayer past 9 eps in of S1, so can’t comment on that).
- Garden of Words: the atmospherics and the rain are just gorgeous

I liked this way more than I thought I would. Given the 18 minute runtime, I think this was great. It even got me a little emotional Could it have developed more of everything? Definitely, but I think this got everything across it needed. I would like to see a full film of this though. I’d be very interested to see more of the world. I think the SEA cultural influences are so cool. The Naga looks incredible.
Kevin Penkin’s music really elevated the whole thing. Man, can this dude write amazing soundtracks.

- Comment on "Dan Da Dan" Season 3 Announced 3 weeks ago:
Not necessarily unlikely given this show’s more unique nature, but it’s not uncommon for character types like him to not really deviate much from this behaviour. I could be totally wrong though.
- Comment on "Dan Da Dan" Season 3 Announced 3 weeks ago:
Yeah that could work, but they’d have to change his entire character type for that. I’ve been burned with that before (Zenitsu from Demon Slayer).

Suika was still a child, and it’s how children think
Definitely! It’s more how they executed it rather than the actual events that made it unbelievable. It was so on the nose.
- Comment on [Episode] DAN DA DAN Season 2 • Dandadan 2nd Season - Episode 12 discussion 3 weeks ago:
Good season, although I didn’t really care for this kaiju arc. Probably because I really don’t like Kinta as a character. He has a character type I really don’t like: arrogant without anything to really back that up. That seems to be his purpose, as the other characters don’t like him either, but idk. I hope he doesn’t become too reoccurring.
Hyped for next season.

- Comment on [Episode] Clevatess • Clevatess: Majuu no Ou to Akago to Kabane no Yuusha - Episode 12 discussion 3 weeks ago:
I started watching this one when it was already halfway through. I didn’t really know what to expect aside from edge, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn’t nearly as edgy as I thought it was going to be.
This world of this anime doesn’t feel like a standard fantasy world to me. The different humanoid factions (that aren’t just elves and dwarves) were interesting and the actual dominance of the magical beasts was cool too. There’s much more to the world to explore too. I think that’s one of the biggest draws for me.
The battles were exciting too where I didn’t necessarily know where they’d go.
Characters were decent. Wouldn’t say they’re the most developed, but not static either. I’m not sure what to think about Nell being “beautified” after being healed. It felt kind of like they thought the audience wouldn’t like her if she wasn’t a hot girl.
I’m a little bummed about season 2 to be seemingly set in a school though. A fair amount of fantasy anime seem to pivot towards some school arc somewhere along the line, even if it didn’t start out as such. I don’t really get it. There are so many school anime, why does the non-school one have to go to school too? Oh well, maybe they’ll do something interesting with it.

So did it take Suika 7 years to make it or was Senku in there for 7 years? If so, I wonder how long Suika was petrified. Decently long I suppose, because of the moss and tattered clothes and all, but I can’t really get an idea
- Comment on Japan to boost support for its anime and film industry 3 weeks ago:
The plan comes as the country aims to triple overseas revenue from Japanese content to ¥20 trillion in 2033.
I do hope this won’t mean that they’ll cater to overseas audiences to achieve this. Sure, it’ll be somewhat unavoidable, but I’d like it to stay uniquely Japanese in style.
raising the upper limit on the industry ministry’s subsidies for video productions
God I hope the animators benefit from this and it doesn’t just disappear into the pockets of the production committees.

Not that I disagree, but I could’ve done without the “ew it’s just scrap paper” and “nah screw the slow one” moments. It was so obvious those were the actual problem solvers. I feel like there are more graceful ways to give hints lmao.
