Nah, back to back doesn’t work well either. Too jumpy and incoherent

I know things started to finally move again but I’m at a point where seeing a new chapter incites zero emotions in me
Same. I had put it on hold quite a while ago and recently caught up and it was still on the same thing that never really made sense and made me loose interest to begin with.

So on that note, maybe the Kin clan has been constantly giving Reirin these “gifts”.
I think it’s not the Kin clan in the same way it likely wasn’t the Kin clan that made Leelee do what she did. The 2nd one coming from Shu, makes me suspect the 1st one also came from her and also that she’s Gayou.

It feels like it’s skipping a lot of things this episode… Like, a whole friend group got added off screen and they kept talking about off screen events
- Comment on The physical media selection at Sony's Crunchyroll is even worse than fans feared after store update: all books removed and Blu-ray lineup gutted 2 weeks ago:
Why do people still use Crunchy Roll or centralized media distribution/streaming sites?
Simple: it’s much easier and requires no effort on your end. Also, because people want to pay for media.
You can build a better library with a VPN, some good Torrent sites, and about 2 TB of storage.
This requires quite a bit more effort, especially if you just want to watch on your TV or phone.
Good torrent sites are pretty annoying to find tbh. There are online resources, but they’re harder to find compared to streaming, especially private trackers.
Storage is very expensive. A 2 TB NVME SSD is like 4-5 years worth of annual Crunchyroll subscriptions. About 2-3 years for HDDs.
2 TB might also not be enough if you want the quality Bluray rips.
You’ll have better quality
Only if you download the Bluray rips, sure, but these take up quite a bit of space and don’t exist yet when you’re wanting to watch the current season or previous 2 seasons. Those rips are at best the same quality as the streaming service. And if physical media will really stop, you’re own library will be the same quality or slightly worse than the streaming services, since the source of the better quality is gone. I have my own Jellyfin server (mostly for my own Bluray rips), but I still have a CR subscription for this reason.
won’t get ads
If you use an adblocker or pay for a subscription you won’t on streaming either.

WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED TO PUT SUBTITLES ON WITH THE ENGLISH AUDIO‽‽‽ IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO PROVIDE CAPTIONS I NEED SOMETHING)
My guess: because the English subtitles will not match with the English dub. I can imagine that would be even more confusing/distracting.
- Comment on The Naruto sexism Discourse we've had is directed at the wrong places. 3 weeks ago:
I’ve never watched a single episode of Naruto, so I’m only going off your post here.
Yes, in-universe it is going against societal norms, but by going along with real-life societal norms. That matters. What is the message there?
Having your women be on equal footing with the men in terms of career path only to then have them follow real-life patriarchal standards as a way of “going against societal norms” seems… odd. It essentially reinforces real-life patriarchal standards in that way.
I don’t think you can always view a story purely in its own context. The mangaka created that universe in the context of the real word and his beliefs. He has control over what their universe looks like and how going against the norm looks like. Here it does sound based on less-than-stellar views on women (which was more common at the time).
- Comment on Education, power, and feminist pedagogy in Witch Hat Atelier 3 weeks ago:
You might want to keep watching then. At least in the manga (havent seen the anime yet):
spoiler for general themes as it goes on
The ethical implications of the witches keeping magic to themselves is addressed more and more as we see what keeping it locked away from the general populace means, including their hypocrisy in using forbidden magic to make people forget things. It has become quite central to Coco’s motivations. The witches are not shown to be the paramount of good, including Qifrey.
- Comment on Crunchyroll the Former Pirate Site 3 weeks ago:
I never bought directly from CR, because they don’t sell it here either and are the wrong region for my player, but they do a lot of releasing here through other sellers. But if they don’t sell through their own shop, I doubt they will through others…
- Comment on Crunchyroll the Former Pirate Site 3 weeks ago:
That’s the wild thing, they actually get less money that way. There are like 4 cases:
- You have both a CR subscription and buy the Blurays (that’s me).
- You pirate the simulcasts and buy the Blurays.
- You only stream.
- You only pirate.
Cases 3 & 4 remain the same. Case 2 will not suddenly go to a subscription and case 1 already has a subscription. There is no extra money to be made.
Technically there is a case 5, where you only buy the Blurays, but that seems very much an edge case or only theoretical.
- Comment on The physical media selection at Sony's Crunchyroll is even worse than fans feared after store update: all books removed and Blu-ray lineup gutted 3 weeks ago:
Considering Sony’s/CR’s near monopoly on both streaming and physical, this leaves me very somber for the future. I hope parties like MVM and AllTheAnime can license some of the titles to release physically…
- Comment on [DISC] The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All - Ch. 175 3 weeks ago:
Caught up since I put it on hold a while ago, but I’m afraid it’s still not doing it for me. It’s too messy in what it’s trying to convey.
The first arc was a pretty simple and focused premise and tbh mostly vibes, where 4 pages per chapter were more than fine. In this arc it’s trying to juggle multiple things and actually exploring some more complicated things, all in 4 pages per week.
If the chapters were longer, like this one, I feel like it’d be able to develop better.

Inititially Code Geass in like 2013, but I stopped after the 1st episode. I think the style put me off. Haven’t given it a try since (but I should). Then to give anime another shot: SAO. It’s a cliché 1st anime but after that I was hooked.

K-On was devastating tbh. CGDCT anime are typically very happy-go-lucky, so any emotional moment hits pretty hard.

I’d like season 2 first… I’m reliant on the UK versions. We have 2 season 1 releases for some reason (1 by AllTheAnime and the other, years later, by CR), but none of the others.
- Comment on Anime General Discussion Thread, Favorite Summer Season OP/ED Edition [2026, Week 31] 1 month ago:
So far, I’m only watching Clevatess S2. Its OP can’t be compared to S1’s.
The anime is still enjoyable, but unfortunately it does seem to fall into the stereotypical magic school tropes, as I was afraid of. A prestige magic school with a dark secret, social hierarchy decided by aptitude for magic, and pompeous rich twats that think they’re all that. The main characters and the wider setting make up for it though.

Chainsmoker Cat* felt more depressing than funny at times. Addiction is no joke.
Yeah, I won’t continue with this anime because of that.
- Comment on [Episode] Chainsmoker Cat • Yani Neko - Episode 2 discussion 1 month ago:
Not like intentionally crying sad, more like in a pitiful/pathetic way. Most comedic moments depend on jokes about actual addicts in frankly deplorable situations and some kind of substance abuse and that’s very uncomfortable to me.
I fully get it’s exaggerated and I’m probably looking too much into it, but it feels like the show is making fun of addicts. Not just smoking, but also drugs. So like, sad that they had to stoop to this level.
- Comment on [Episode] Chainsmoker Cat • Yani Neko - Episode 2 discussion 1 month ago:
Yeah, not continuing this one. It’s like, actually sad
