More deaths than births. It just means more deaths than births. Not sure why you assume women need to kill babies for that to be a reality.

Wouldn’t that just be a fertility rate below 1?
Rate of 2: 2 babies are born per human death, population grows
Rate of 1: 1 baby is born per death, population remains the same
Rate of 0.5: 1 baby is born for every 2 deaths, pop. decreases.
Rate of 0: no babies are born, but people still die.
What would a negative fertility rate mean? A rate of -1? I don’t think it could exist.

Fertility rate is the average number of children that are born to a woman over her lifetime. Deaths aren’t part of it
