Me, humanity sucks

The mails are being rate limited :( I don’t have mine yet either.

It will be federated after a bit, the owner first wants to see how intensive it is on the server I believe

Wouldn’t that just be a fertility rate below 1?
Rate of 2: 2 babies are born per human death, population grows
Rate of 1: 1 baby is born per death, population remains the same
Rate of 0.5: 1 baby is born for every 2 deaths, pop. decreases.
Rate of 0: no babies are born, but people still die.
What would a negative fertility rate mean? A rate of -1? I don’t think it could exist.

You made me think he died tbh
- Comment on Day -11 of posting a screenshot from a game I've been playing until I also forget to post screenshots 1 month ago:
I feel like a daily thread is fine, but then others should post in the comments. Multiple threads with basically the same content feels redundant.
- Comment on Elon Musk’s X is now worth less than a quarter of its $44 billion purchase price 1 month ago:
Twitter wasn’t profitable right? So most of the “value” is in the name of the product. Elon changed the name and added his signature to everything the platform was doing, completely changing the platform Twitter is. So yeah, I do get why 75% of the money is gone now.
- Comment on Elon Musk’s X is now worth less than a quarter of its $44 billion purchase price 1 month ago:
He tried to back out, I don’t think any of this was about anything. He’s just a dick with a weird sense of humor.
- Comment on [Tom Warren] The PS5 Pro still hasn’t sold out in the US or UK. Looks like the $700 price point will mean this console will be readily available this holiday 1 month ago:
You definitely can. The UI from Steam OS (Linux based) is much better though.
- Comment on I want an AI TV that blocks all forms of advertising. 2 months ago:
Here is a video (24:27) by Technology Connections talking about the TV Guardian. There’s also this video (20:59) by Ben Eater, who looks at the memory chip on the device to figure out how it works. It’s pretty neat, and I recommend both videos if you have some spare time.

You can typically upload to your Lemmy instance

Honestly I can’t even argue with that.

Fair enough

Why are you using Facebook as your image host?
- Comment on Infamous $30 Logitech F710 called out in $50M lawsuit over Titan sub implosion 2 months ago:
It appears they are suing OceanGate, the company that made the submarine. The use of cheap, consumer grade hardware for critical functions (literally controlling the sub) is one of their criticisms.
- Comment on Break science with this one weird trick 2 months ago:
I imagine plugging a powerbank into itself just causes a short circuit. Detecting that isn’t the most uncommon thing fafaik.
- Comment on too slow speed through wireguard 3 months ago:
Having never used this software before, my guess would be your VPS provider is limiting the upload speed of the VPS. The data would be uploaded slowly to you, which means your download speed is limited as the client.
Meanwhile the upload speed is reported as being high enough, since the VPS can download your data at 50mbit/s, as this cap is higher.
- Comment on Samsung delivers 600-mile solid-state EV battery as it teases 9-minute charging and 20-year lifespan tech 3 months ago:
Based on the article they are more expensive than li-ion batteries (for now), so probably not yet. And the article doesn’t mention anything about this, but I imagine there would be scaling issues.
- Comment on Rockstar might be bringing GTA+ to Nintendo Switch 3 months ago:
Did you miss the announcement? They released a trailer, which revealed the year it’s releasing. 2025. It was even leaked a few hours beforehand, which was quite a big deal in itself.

- Comment on I hear phrases like "half-past", "quarter til", and "quarter after" way less often since digital clocks have became more commonplace. 8 months ago:
It does! I recently switched to Linux, and when messing with some of the options, I found that. It’s pretty neat tbh

Child pornography.

It is a fork of Mastodon though, iirc. But I don’t think it federates with anything.
- Comment on Monitor Alignment Alignment Chart 1 year ago:
You can use a software called LittleBigMouse to make this better. It’s really nice in my experience with 2 1080p screens and one 4k. All roughly the same size
- Comment on Why are so many boys and men feeling alone and in the cold? 1 year ago:
I don’t have first-hand experience since I’m 18, but I imagine it’s just stuff like casual hugs or stuff like that. All physical intimacy is supposed to be for your partner now (at least in men), and as such hugging a friend would mean you’re gay and banging him.
