You can also install Shizuku and use the Shizuku installation method which is seamless and requires no user interaction to update and install apps.

Yeah, AI video! Useless, we have humans we don’t need to burn resources on stupid.

Fuck AI. There is a use case for simple apps like chatgpt.
But, for most things you don’t need AI. Things like chat support for product/services, vibe coded app/website. Its all crap.
- Comment on Browser Fingerprinting And Why VPNs Won’t Make You Anonymous 5 weeks ago:
If you use addons like Ublock-origin. You can reduce the fingerprinting. You can also disable 3rd party iframes, disable Javascript which can further reduce the data being sent to websites.

- Comment on Hackers can steal 2FA codes and private messages from Android phones 2 months ago:
Here I thought not giving accessibility permission, draw over apps permission among others meant I was safe.
Guess, there’s always something on the corner. More infuriating, this was disclosed in February and google has yet to completely fix the issue. I doubt I would be getting a proper fix any time sooner than march at this pace.
- Comment on Hackers can steal 2FA codes and private messages from Android phones 2 months ago:
Not all banks and website support physical key authentication. Besides, those keys can also be vulnerable. Yubikeys and others were vulnerable to a side channel attack and you had to buy new keys since you cannot patch hardware.
The only saving grace was an Attacker needed physical access to attempt that. But, yes in general can be more secure.

Depends. If a significant chunk of your userbase starts to leave you will have to rethink sooner rather than later.
- Comment on ICE to Buy Tool that Tracks Locations of Hundreds of Millions of Phones Every Day 2 months ago:
You can instead use apps which block trackers. I can recommend 3.
Netguard with tracker filters enabled, PersonalDNS filter – a fire and forget DNS filter app, or Adguard android app from Adguard website.
The 1st one needs payment to access some pro features but can also block internet connection to all your apps.
The 2nd one is a simple DNS blocker which can have millions of rules and won’t choke under the load.
The last one is not Foss or available on fdroid like the 1st two are, but is much more powerful than the 1st two combined.
Pick your tools and limit information now.

- Comment on What would stop you from switching to a flip phone (or dumbphone) in 2025? 3 months ago:
Yeah, alongside that. Phones also have focus mode, digital wellbeing to limit usage of distracting apps. You can even turn on super power saving mode to limit phone use further and use it for basic functions like phones, messages, web browsing, etc.
- Comment on Google gets to keep Chrome, judge rules in search antitrust case 3 months ago:
Samsung blocks installing apps outside Playstore if you enable their advanced blocker mode. Xiaomi also warns and shows a pop-up for 10-30s preventing it.
Pixel’s advanced protection mode does the same.
Also, when i metioned that I was talking about OEMs forking android and making it harder to use per your needs. Which would mean modifying android which could mean failing some CTS tests for play services. Boot loader unlocking is already on the verge of being killed. Installing apps and other things you currently do on your android could be next if OEMs were allowed free reign.
I received quite a few responses about apps when I wanted to Highlight the bootloader unlocking, custom ROMs, root, etc. I guess my comment was not too clear.

- Comment on Google gets to keep Chrome, judge rules in search antitrust case 3 months ago:
They need to maintain compatibility with play services to access apps on play store.
Also, starting with OnUI 8 and oxygenOS 16 bootloader unlocking is no longer supported. So, its a moot point. The hardening has already started.

You think other companies would provide sideloading like samsung, and oneplus? They would lock the OS hard and make it difficult to even unlock. Making android more closed than before.

- Comment on Is it worth switching to SuperImage Pro 6 months ago:
I have been using it for a while and can say it works great.
As for switching to a closed source app depends on how far you follow the Foss philosophy. If you are fine with letting go some of it, sure. Otherwise, don’t.
Regardless I won’t recommend the Ad-supported version.
- Comment on Does anyone use a phone without a protective case? 6 months ago:
I use one because it had one in the box. Otherwise, I would’ve purchased one since the back is prone to scratches and degradation. It also adds a level of protection to the phone.
