The most believable part of the whole thing. Standard “Tech Incubator” bullshit.

joy. Wasn’t trying to engage with you, but I’ll live. I better be one of the bumbling villians, dammit.

You called him a troll. By that definition, he likes your attention. The choices are feed the troll and live with, maybe learn to enjoy the resulting walls of text, or Block them.
Sorry to remind you, there is no in-between. Even if he had some sort of aneurism/epiphany and suddenly wanted to break character to do things more to your liking, he would do so under a new username, or be laughed back into the role everyone has come to expect. Been There Done That.

You’re missing out, unless the concept isn’t your thing after all.

Your contempt for an account you cannot be bothered to block is highly amusing.

Personally, I would rather hack it, copy/paste, and talk to whoever would be willing to communicate with me about it in English. I said niche interest, but that wasn’t about the time I’m willing to sink into a given project. Learning Russian would be investing months to save hours from an electronics perspective.
Rather let my desire to travel and communicate with a given group of people in person dictate what languages I might study and in what order.
- Comment on Russian electronics forums registration forms be like 5 weeks ago:
Wait, did you think you had to convince me I’m missing out?
That said, I’m still not learning Russian any time soon. There’s at least a dozen other languages I would rather learn first, and at least a hundred other countries I would rather visit first, my niche interests be damned.

On the contrary, its too much stuff I’m not interested in, and/or actively disinterested in, and not enough of the rest. OTOH, I don’ even remember the exact topic of this community or instance.
Seems techy and not full of absolute garbage, and that’s more than enough for me.

PC for “real” gaming. Phone for casual stuff, although I’ll stream better games when my connection is good enough.

For your last question: some people still do. For the rest: Bluetooth remote, Bluetooth speakers. This was back when the Bluetooth emphasis was on range, versus now its on power savings. Building materials are still the biggest issue affecting the range and quality experience, but reaching the next room or two was usually no big deal when this thing was made.

Holy shit, I’ve repaired a couple of these. Somehow, both were personally owned by different professors, who each opted to have the repairs done in their respective buildings on the same university campus.
I don’t even remember the parts I swapped, or if they were particularly easy or hard to work on inside. I seem to recall one of the Alienware gaming laptops with the removable GPUs I found surprisingly easy by comparison, but that doesn’t mean anything in an era where HP and Dell were both turning out SFF and not-so-SFF desktops that would have the weirdest accomodations AND gotchas when it came to repairing them.

I was going to suggest there should be a way to run handbrake locally while pointing its under-the-hood functions to handbrake-cli (also, yes, there’s handbrake-cli) hosted on your server, but I found this instead:

A persona allows people who otherwise wouldn’t to experiment with being magnanimous and making/admitting mistakes(some more cautious IRL, others incapable of backing down).
OTOH, there’s always people who play Paladins on tabletop, and the mitigating factor of the Block button - most who don’t want to aren’t forced to engage with the worst of us, and blocking someone who knows you IRL has a more complicated cost/benefit calculation. This is one thing I feel cancel cultoure and the younger generations get right; Screw the other consequences when not blocking that shitty uncle, boss, teacher, coworker, celebrity, whoever, is letting them monopolize some of your personal time and mental energy.

Sure, fren, whatever you say.The only reason OP might not have done it this way in the first place would have been to save the company worrying about licensing, or getting shitty with OP about not using enough orignal/proprietary code to ensure lock-in with future clients … is THAT somehow morally superior in your book.

A large amount of my outlook revolves around the notion that once you can forgive ANY human for existing, the justifications for holding much of anything against(or mistreating) any but a select (relatively)few just melt away and indulging in the notion that I myself am exceptionally horrible (self-loathing) is just vanity.
I honestly don’t get how someone can come to the conclusion that ending humanity is absolutely desirable and not just skip to the step of ending themselves. That’s surrendering the high ground at step one, and just because I believe they deserve to draw breath more than they do doesn’t mean I won’t block anyone who openly subscribes to such ideals in a heartbeat.
We got here by being horrible. I’ll believe any other intelligent(or otherwise) life got so far without similar skeletons in their closets when I see it. Not them or anyone else claiming it, but like, a god’s-eye-view of their entire history. Pretending we can’t get over it is just an excuse for further horrors.

Starting my fourth decade on this rock. Distressingly pale… My boys are into trying to fix and upgrade the consoles & PC’s they’ve grown up with, plus a couple old PowerPC G4 & G5 Macs I snatched up a few years ago, so we’ll see where that goes.

Shit, I went through the same thing with learning Basic on an Apple II and never being able to acquire(rarely even encountered) one of the right models to use what I had learned after I left that school. Lusted after the IIc for a hot minute, let me tell ya.
