Bluesky’s ActivityPub support is also leagues better than Threads because of Bridgy Fed. At least a Bluesky user and a Threads user can follow each other and have a back-and-forth conversation.
- Comment on How to self-host all of Bluesky except the AppView (for now) 1 week ago:
- As far as I know, there aren’t any yet. Even if there were, I personally wouldn’t trust them for the same reason I wouldn’t use any Mastodon instance besides mastodon.social: if the PDS shuts down abruptly, your account is gone forever.
- Bluesky and ATProto are designed specifically to hide the ways in which it’s decentralized.
- I think this post does a good job visualizing how AtProto is different from ActivityPub.

- Comment on why isn't anyone calling for Trump to drop out. 4 months ago:
The Philadelphia Inquirer has. The thing is that Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care what the editorial boards of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Times, or the Washington Post have to say about him.

Because there are a lot of dishonest people who claim they’re only criticizing Hamas, when they are actually calling for violence against all Palestinians.
“Harbu Darbu” is a perfect example of that.

I wouldn’t really compare them. Ultimately, the Bluesky team still has control over what’s allowed on the app and what’s allowed on the network.

Tankies are the reason Lemmy exists in the first place.

Lemmy is probably the best fedidiverse project so far and it’s not even close
- Comment on Bluesky and Mastodon users are having a fight that could shape the next generation of social media 8 months ago:
Even if Bluesky surpasses Mastodon in number of active users, it remains to be seen if ATProtocol becomes more widely adopted than ActivityPub. Meta and Automattic (WordPress.com and Tumblr) are betting on ActivityPub.

Actual answer: user-uploadable custom feeds, which aren’t really possible with ActivityPub
