These have existed before the term “chiplet”.

Don’t get me wrong, I dont think it’s right to forbid people from collaborating in an open environment just because of what their government does, and frankly the arguments that the normal people should be punished because of their government are stupid, but it’s just, not racism.

This is disgusting.
It would have been easier to just remove these restrictions for everyone.

Yep, also basically stole from the UK taxpayer by convincing Oxford University to not open source their publicly funded vaccine and instead sell the rights to AstraZenica.

No it’s the person who owns the source.
A pro-Israel American iirc.
- Comment on Why are people downvoting the MediaBiasFactChecker not? 3 months ago:
For one, it bases it’s bias assessments on American politics. The UK is less right-wing than the US but when this bot comes along it calls a source which we might call centrist, “left”.
In a way, it’s like an attempt to shift the overton window for other countries closer to the US, and that’s not a good thing.
Of course, don’t expect this to be addressed by @Rooki@lemmy.world.

People offered plenty of constructive criticism in that thread:
The mod ignored it and only replied to positive feedback.

Oh, not the “we fund you” narrative again. 🙄
The US military spent a lot in Europe, yet when Ukraine was first invaded this proved to be completely and utterly useless.
- Comment on Leaked Cellebrite Tool Docs Reveal List of Phones That Can Be Unlocked 3 months ago:
In a before-first-unlock state they absolutely are bruteforcing, since the filesystem is encrypted. The exploits are for bypassing the retry limit in that case.
- Comment on Leaked Cellebrite Tool Docs Reveal List of Phones That Can Be Unlocked 3 months ago:
Use a long password and you’ll be immune from their before first unlock brute force.
Passcodes are trivial to break.

Should have the right to know what happening to their children. Schools shouldn’t be hiding anything from the parents.
I hate to break it to you, but if a child tells the school before they tell their own damn parents, there’s a reason for that.

If there was malware in Matrix I’m sure the many people who have looked at the code would have found it by now. It’s also worth noting that most Matrix servers you can choose are not in Israel.
And Signal is not a good alternative, as just like Microsoft here, they can ban you if they don’t like where you’re sending messages.
Free/open source software is an international development effort. Whether some developers are Israeli is irrelevant because the code is public and has developers worldwide.
And they are famous for spyware, yes, but that’s from specific state-sanctioned companies. Like NSO group.

having an ideological-problem with people making a living off their code
I’m just going to stop you right there. Free Software / Open Source Software are not opposed to people earning money. In fact, they encourage it and there are several avenues through which it is possible, such as not making the code public and selling binaries to people with the source bundled.
You don’t need to fuck over and mistreat users to earn money.

If only he didn’t decide to call it “open source”, when it has quite an egregious license.
- Comment on Nintendo DMCA Notice Wipes Out 8,535 Yuzu Repos, Mig Switch Also Targeted. 6 months ago:
That’s not “proprietary code”, those are keys. And they actually didn’t include keys, Yuzu did require you to supply a key, however a lot of them were then derived from the key supplied.
And there is no other way to do emulation and a whole host of other things if you can’t use their keys. Make no mistake, Nintendo wishes it could make using the keys at all illegal.

They did do shady stuff but I hate that the “TOTK worked on the Switch perfectly on release day” is thrown around as an argument. It’s an emulator, emulating the switch hardware, if it does it’s job well of course it’ll do that.
I know that they used leaked builds but that just annoys me.

Sanction them if they misbehave, yes. Prevent most of the population from communicating using it? Absolutely not.
Americans have weird priorities when it comes to freedom.
