Biiig difference to me - kinda annoying. I'm sure it'll grow on me eventually - but the show is loosing its pizazz.

Someone is totally going to turn this into a reprap 3D printer, and I'm absolutely here for it. I can't wait to toss on a 1mm nozzle and start printing some massive 3D printed bog planters for my savage garden hahaha.
- Comment on New Nintendo patent suggests Switch 2 may solve joycon drift 1 year ago:
Well cool, I hope it does. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but the Nintendo Switch interested me for the occasional mario kart session. But all the Joycon drama scared me off from buying one. I'll hold out for a few more years before splurging - I'm in no rush, I rarely game or watch television anyway lol
- Comment on The Australian solar tech that may have found a low cost solution to deep storage 1 year ago:
TL/DR - they're using mini solar tower collectors to concentrate and collect sunlight to charge PV panels. This produces a lot of excess heat - the heat is pumped away via water into an underground vault where the heat is stored until the evening where the heat is converted back into electricity using conventional off-the-shelf materials and hardware.

Just last month I came across a cd I burned with Mandrake Linux that I had downloaded - 26 years ago!
I should try and install that on a virtual PC and see how it feels/looks hahaha

Crazy to think it was only about fifteen years ago the small Data-storage server reseller I worked for was selling their own in-house server racks - a whole 52U rack filled with Supermicro drive bays to store a petabyte of data was $300k and that was a steal of a deal at the time.
- Comment on The streaming model is cratering — here's how that's hurting actors, writers and fans 1 year ago:
Interesting, so would you say the ratios were similar between streaming and non-streaming networks?
I have reddit blocked at the router level so I can't view anything on that site (still boycotting the company lol)
- Comment on The streaming model is cratering — here's how that's hurting actors, writers and fans 1 year ago:
I think if you were to chart the number of single season series over the years, you'd likely find that streaming media has exponentially more cancelled shows after one series because it's easier for them to monitor engagement of the series by viewers and cut the fat when they think a show won't succeed based on the metric data they have.
Can you imagine shows like Stargate SG1? They most likely would have been cancelled after season1 because the viewer count wasn't there at the start of the series.
- Comment on ‘Twisted Metal’ Sets Audience Record For Peacock Comedies, Earns Spot Among Streamer’s Top Originals Series 1 year ago:
I'm honestly tempted to cancel my HBOMax subscription and give peacock a shot - they have TheOffice, Star Trek, and now twisted metal - lots of reasons to make the switch since I'm not using HBOMax as much as I thought I would.

Why do people use Facebook and Instagram? Because they think it's cool and fun to share with friends, regardless what data FB is gathering on them.

How are you seeing gifs in kbin? All I'm seeing is a url link to the gif and have to click the media icon button next to the URL For it to load...... is there a setting I need to enable to load pictures/gifs automatically?
- Comment on Finished building the MK4 kit and placed it in the enclosure, first few prints have been great. 1 year ago:
Hopefully the factory can find a good workaround for future revisions of the design. But gotta hand it to Prusa - they quickly respond when something needs be adjusted in the build. I remember the minor upgrades from the MK3s to the MK3s+ which seemed minor to some, but were huge for others (for me I see barely any difference in my farm, but hey I'm glad they made those changes if it increases the lifespan of the rails/bearings, etc).

- Comment on Running DOOM In A Keycap Takes Careful Work 1 year ago:
Crazy how people are still finding new things to cram doom into. I remember when that was a popular thing to do twenty years ago haha
But I'll admit, stuffing it into a keycap is pretty damn impressive, albeit useless haha

Good to hear some people are happy with their MK4.
I've been seeing so many complaints in the Prusa facebook groups from early adopters.
Personally I'm keeping my printer farm running MK3S printers for now, I'm gonna let everyone continue beta-testing the MK4 for another year or two before I splurge on a few factory assembled machines for the farm.

- Comment on Netflix Gains Six Million Subscribers After Password Sharing Crackdown 1 year ago:
After fifteen years, I cancelled my Netflix last year. Don't miss it at all.
I think all these streaming platforms forget that not all of us need to watch their content 24/7. I spend less than an hour watching television a day while eating food and that's it.
Did you know that you can still enjoy Youtube ad-free (or the occasional 10-second skippable ad). How do you do it? By not watching youtube at all aside from the random how-to video. Since I watch less than an hour of youtube a month on average, I see essentially zero ads.
- Comment on Netflix axes its $10 ‘Basic’ plan in the US and UK 1 year ago:
I was a Netflix DVD subscriber before they released a Wii streaming disc then started streaming Netflix back when it was glorious with all your favorite shows. Eventually I downgraded to the cheap $8 plan for a single user at 1080p resolution which was fine - my old television is still 1080p native resolution.
Then they quietly raised the price.... and dropped the resolution to 720p without telling me. Finally I had enough - after more than a decade I finally cancelled my Netflix account last year and haven't looked back.
I don't miss their "netflix originals" which only last for one or two seasons before getting canned because netflix needs more viewership to justify the investments.
Truth be told, I don't watch must television (or even youtube) in general - I have better things to do with my time than vegetating on a couch watching a tv screen.
