Oh, so you are blocked from the kbin account. I thought this post was about getting blocked on Github.com itself.

Without context this is meaningless. Are you gotten blocked in Github from a specific repository? And why posting it here, what do you try to achieve?
- Comment on DevDocs - offline documentation 1 year ago:
You can just transfer the files and it should find them again. I did that with Kiwix and Zeal, if I'm not mistaken. Nowadays I don't use Zeal, but don't remember having such a trouble when installing a new os and taking old HDD over.

After thinking through this, what part of the title is confusing in your opinion? It says exactly what is happening. The title you suggest is not really different.

Nice website. There is also Zeal: https://zealdocs.org/ and for other type of documents. There is Kiwix: https://kiwix.org , which I use to download the entire Wikipedia.

Glad you like it. He always does this in-dept technical explanation, which sometimes is too technical for me. I noticed it wasn't even the video I wanted to link and updated the reply with the additional link about the water level specifically.

My point is, that Battletoads controls precise and is about learning patterns and reacting fast enough. It's obviously not the same and Dark Souls is way more complex as well. These games are not hard, because the game is bad.. But my point was, it's not broken in the implementation and bad game design like in TMNT.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Here is a very good technical video about this topic: The Bad Jump Design and 30 FPS Gravity of TMNT (NES) - Behind the Code
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Exactly. Battletoads isn't unfair, its just extremely hard (not different from Dark Souls). It's different kind of hard, compared to Turtles, which had bad controls in example.

I never played that game, but already gave up after reading a lot about it.
- Comment on The Making of Chrono Trigger & Secret of Mana - Splash Wave 1 year ago:
Secret of Mana was originally developed and planned to be released for the SNES CD ROM extension (named Playstation!). It had way more content, graphics and music in CD quality. But, as we know, Nintendo suddenly stopped the plans for CD ROM and Sony created the Playstation therefore. And this angered Squaresoft too, as they had to rework the game and create a cut down version for the cartridge, and it was still more expensive compared to CD too. And later when Nintendo went with carts on N64 again, they had enough and developed Final Fantasy 7 for the Playstation.

Came here for Zig too. I never programmed anything in it other than hello world stuff. I think the world is waiting for the 1.0 release with complete tooling and package manager and a solid foundation that won't change too soon. I watched talks from Andrew and what this guy and his team is doing is amazing. It's a small team.

- Comment on Atari enters into an agreement to acquire Digital Eclipse 1 year ago:
I don't think this is a good thing. Atari didn't prove themselves in the recent years, so my trust is shaken. Also taking the company Digital Eclipse from the free market is concerning, because they did awesome jobs with restoration of older games for other companies. Will Atari allow them to work on other projects? And what is the goal here? Does Atari only sell their old stuff and do not produce new games? And if Atari fails, then will Digital Eclipse be resolved into nothing?
I'm worried for Digital Eclipse, because that's an awesome game house I do not want to lose in the gaming industry.

For those who setup Vim as an IDE with all the bells and whistles, could create a simple script that runs Vim without the customization or a very simple configuration.

While I understand this is humorous post, it's not crystal clear. That does not mean people lack humor, that only means we encounter a lot of trolls or idiots in the forums, that we no longer know if someone is joking or is being serious. So you should not call people being seriously wounded, if your joke didn't come as you wish it was.
In short, if it's not 100% clear (and it's not), then marking it as "sarcasm" is not a bad idea if you just making a joke without trolling or flamewar. That's just my thumb of rule. It helps you not get misunderstood.

I wrote a little script to browse Manpages: woman using
fzf
to create such a browser. Just runwoman
without arguments to see the full list.I think you would need to change the variable
sections='1,8,6,5,7'
, so it access only specific Manpages. In example1
stands for executable programs or shell commands. More about the sections in the DESCRIPTION of the man command itself:man man

Yeah, the games itself weren't good. I wasn't a big fan of them back in the day. But I feel somewhat nostalgic about them nowadays when playing on an emulator.

Reminds me those Sega CD/Mega CD games with full motion videos, like Corpse Killer (rail shooter) or Road Avenger (quick time events). Now I kinda want to have this.

I see. To me using EndeavourOS is not bending over backwards, because it is not more difficult than using bare metal Archlinux. Just saying, because you say you don't understand people doing that. I don't do it. EndeavourOS makes it more easy and less headache to use Arch in my opinion. And from that perspective, it's a win situation.

Me too BTW. :>
And this time, we can expect Valve to stay on Archlinux base. Previous iterations of SteamOS was first on Ubuntu, then Debian. - Comment on Linux interop is maturing fast… thanks to a games console 1 year ago:
The title could mention Steam Deck, but not mentioning it makes better clickbait. Warning: This reply has some random thoughts about the system being or not being a game console.
I personally don't like calling the Steam Deck a game console, but I get why it is seen as such. The reality is, it's a PC in handheld form factor treated as a game console. I guess the one important distinction is, that developers can target the Steam Deck specifically, which makes it a game console like PC. The other handhelds or laptops based on PC technology aren't consoles, even though the concept of the Deck existed before. That's why I do not consider any specific PC configuration, such as Aya Neo or the other competitors a game console. Because developers do not target those specifically (and they lack an operating system dedicated being a console).
The reality is, the lines between game console and general computing devices get blurry, once you involve "real" PC hardware and operating systems suited for general operations. And the Steam Deck has both. It's tricky. But I really like the fact that the Steam Deck can be targeted and optimized by developers and that Valve takes their time for an iteration of the "system". What we were thinking of game consoles changes with this open platform. And the best thing is, the game library does not depend on this specific hardware; you are not bound to a specific company in example, not even a specific shop or library.
Valve entering the game console market with a Linux based system is probably one of the most important steps in videogame history. I suspect this will have bigger impact in the future than most people imagine now. At least I hope so...
