You are right in saying that all studios who can work for less money will do. That is the scary part for thousands of people working in animation and film.
Tech people doesn’t know about art, well I’m not sure, but that is irrelevant as AI are trained on existing top of the line art made by the best artistis in the world.
On the renderman subject, that is not correct. Renderman is a render engine for 3d softwares. AI doesn’t need a render engine at all as it produces images by itself. And for movies like topgun a number of different engines are used, renderman, vray, Arnold, redshift, unreal, etc.

You joke, but as a cgi animator I’m kind of worried. It is evolving so fast and has gotten many people I know out of their jobs (concept art, photography, illustration) and it seems like is just a matter of time for the techbros to perfect these tools for animation and video.
I’m really really hoping to be wrong.

I’m obviously not the majority but I play Fortnite and halo infinite with my kids. We haven’t bought anything but enjoyed hundreds of hours playing. There is people who like to spend and people who don’t, and at least in these two tittles there are no predatory issues as long as an adult is supervising.

Made for the rental market?
It was hard so it would suck for people who rented the game. Developers and publishers didn’t get a cut for each rental.
- Comment on Yeah, but... 11 months ago:
Not as much as if there was no rental business. It was bad for them, Nintendo even tried to stop blockbuster from renting their games. They weren’t designing games thinking about the rentals.

Game developers didn’t profit from rents.

Oh I’m aware of the true definition of boomer but for many teeanger if you are older than 25 you are a boomer.
- Comment on US kids want games subscriptions and virtual currency more than games this Christmas 11 months ago:
Ha! I guess I already qualify as a boomer. I’m 43 and been a gamer since the commodore days. I play everything that comes my way if time permits, from indies like islanders for a relaxing me time, to mega AAA F2P monsters like Fortnite to have a laugh with my sons.

This type of games are free to play. So a bunch of kids who are friends can start playing at any time even without money. If some of them like the game, they’ll stay as a group for the social aspect.
I don’t see any wrong in it. Its just different of what I did 30 years ago.

I share my steam linrary with my two kids. Gave them 200+ games. They still play Fortnite and Roblox because that is what their friends play. When I was young the biggest games were single player and you shared stories with your friends. Now you play with them online.

I understand the sentiment but big free games with storefronts aren’t pay to win anymore.
Fortnite, roblox, apex, cod and rocket league are some examples.
