You literally just turn it off in settings, but I also run a VPN and have the permissions denied at the OS level on my phone (Android 16). On my personal computer, I only use web apps when it comes to work stuff, and on my work computer, I have all location settings turned off for OS and apps (but I am an admin and work in IT)

Good thing my manager isn’t a piece of shit.
Also, I have it blocked on all my stuff because fuck off with your tracking.

- Comment on YSK the four rules of firearm safety 2 weeks ago:
The rule for a casual finder would be to not touch it at all: If you find a random firearm, leave it the hell alone and report it to the authorities.
- Comment on YSK the four rules of firearm safety 2 weeks ago:
Maintenance should probably be in there too: A poorly maintained firearm is potentially dangerous to the user.

I ditched them years ago after they got bought out the first time.
- Comment on Steam Machine verification will have "fewer constraints" than Steam Deck - but text sizing worries me 3 weeks ago:
If you can’t see the text on a giant screen at 2-3m, you might need to get your eyes checked.

- Comment on Steam Machine verification will have "fewer constraints" than Steam Deck - but text sizing worries me 3 weeks ago:
I’m on board with devs making text more readable for the Steam Deck, but the Steam Machine would have much larger screens where this wouldn’t really be a problem for it.
- Comment on If I publish my memoir and wrote about every bad thing people did to hurt me while the people mentioned are still alive, how much trouble could I get in? 3 weeks ago:
It depends on where you publish it: In the United States, the truth is a complete defense to libel suits, so you wouldn’t get in any trouble. This, of course, assumes that you can prove the contents of the book and have not signed any NDAs that would prohibit such a book.

It’s like they say: Comedy is hard.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 4 weeks ago:
Dying Light 2 has been my go-to for the last few weeks, so I’ll probably play some more of that.

- Comment on 3.5" floppy disks were peak tactile feedback in storage: easy to stick in, drives had a button to immediately eject them, big enough to get labels, thin enough that stacks didn't take too much space 4 weeks ago:
Kinda sounds like you are blaming the case at least in part. Why not switch to a better case?

I disagree, MicroSD is my external storage of choice. Their size makes them ideal to carry and store but you might need to rethink how you go about doing it.

You can label them with smol labels, that’s what I do with all of mine! They’re full of movies, books, and video game installs.

I haven’t played, but have experienced this with games and sometimes certain tasks at work.

MicroSD cards fit these requirements too
- Comment on Creating apps like Signal or WhatsApp could be 'hostile activity,' claims UK watchdog 1 month ago:
Seems like something that you should sue over, but that’s easier said than done for most folks. If you want to try and help maintain your privacy, use a virtual device or a “burner” that’s only used to access what’s necessary and for nothing else. Keep them off unless you actively need them and deny all unnecessary permissions. It’s not perfect but it’s less bad than giving them even more information to datamine for profit at your expense.

Damn right I did.

The world is a big place and disconnecting gives you a huge boost in privacy. It’s not all black-and-white.

I mean, it kinda still does, but even if they did eventually invade, it wouldn’t necessarily make China the only game in town.
- Comment on China Has Reportedly Built Its First EUV Machine Prototype, Marking a Semiconductor Breakthrough the U.S. Has Feared All Along 1 month ago:
If Taiwan gets invaded they’ll just blow their chip fabs, they’ve said as much multiple times and presumably have a plan in place to do it at a moment’s notice.

There are lots of good indie games every year, just have to find them!
- Comment on Steam Replay is live and notes only 14% "of playtime spent by all Steam users" was for 2025 releases 1 month ago:
Me too: AAA games are just kinda shit these days, which is kind of a slap in the face given the skyrocketing prices. Plus there’s invasive shit a lot of them started using in the name of anticheat.
The appeal of AAA games was killed long ago by corporate greed.
