Cover the printer to protect from dust and seal your filament in airtight containers with some sort of desiccant.
- Comment on Which Linux Distribution has the best Community Support? 1 week ago:
A Debian based distro is probably your best bet (Mint is my favorite, but there’s a few options including Ubuntu and of course Debian itself).

Coffee is my drug of choice.

- Comment on (serious) What would we be losing in a world where most people didn't own a car? Please read the OP before posting. 2 weeks ago:
I’m not saying it would be practical in your case, but you could definitely carry 6 weeks of groceries on a cargo bike (ebike would be better given the load though). Hell, you might even be able to do that on a regular bike. I can fit at least 60 liters of groceries into my Portola, and that isn’t even including the top rear cargo rack. In an actual cargo bike, you could probably fit like 2+ months of groceries.

4 miles is not very far at all on a bike, 30 isn’t too crazy either. I think people misunderstand just how far you can travel on a bicycle.

Lots of weight and heart disease I bet. On a related note, I rode my bike to work today and it was great.
While I’m here, I guess I should plug !micromobility@lemmy.world
- Comment on California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and SteamOS — user age verified during OS account setup 2 weeks ago:
What the fuck? This is ridiculous and it won’t actually solve anything at all.
- Comment on AI is the digital equivalent of an atom bomb. You can refuse it but you can't prevent others from using it... and there may be dire consequences if only the worst people have it. 2 weeks ago:
I’d be more worried about that if it wasn’t a fucking dumpster fire TBH, but a person using AI won’t even be remotely capable of competing against a person who genuinely knows what they’re doing for anything that actually matters: AI is dangerous to use if you are unable to correct the mistakes it is guaranteed to make.
- Comment on 3 weeks ago:
If that’s all you want, making something that just clips onto your existing glasses might be pretty viable.
- Comment on 3 weeks ago:
I don’t think that would work particularly well with AR: People get sick if movement isn’t synced up properly, not having any sort of cameras or sensors at all would exacerbate that problem.
If you are talking about a simple HUD, then that might be a lot more viable, but for AR and the tech we currently have, some sort of camera or sensor array is kind of a requirement.

I remember Google Glass itself receiving a ton of outrage actually.

You are driving the car though, even if it’s just down the street, that’s not a great move: Knock the snow off before you get onto the road, even if it’s a short trip.

Only if I have to go somewhere, if I don’t, fuck yeah, bring on the snow!
- Comment on Newish to Fediverse - do I use one account across all services? 3 weeks ago:
I use Piefed and Lemmy. You can use one or all or any combination thereof but being on all of them would be a lot to manage. I started with Lemmy and am probably going to end up using PieFed (or maybe Mbin) because they have more features and better interfaces.

Beans, peppers, onions, corn, beans, more beans, possibly some ground pork, as well as beans.
Also, tomato paste, some hot sauce, and beans.

If you have to sell plasma, you aren’t middle class anymore. This is probably because they’ve been gutting the middle class in favor of the rich for decades.

You literally just turn it off in settings, but I also run a VPN and have the permissions denied at the OS level on my phone (Android 16). On my personal computer, I only use web apps when it comes to work stuff, and on my work computer, I have all location settings turned off for OS and apps (but I am an admin and work in IT)

The rule for a casual finder would be to not touch it at all: If you find a random firearm, leave it the hell alone and report it to the authorities.

Maintenance should probably be in there too: A poorly maintained firearm is potentially dangerous to the user.
