Well ACC works on linux, including VR, using proton. This probably will to unless it is using some form of broken copy protection.
- Comment on Even Apple finally admits that 8GB RAM isn't enough 1 week ago:
No I do not, but I don’t see any reason it shouldn’t work though. I have PiHole, Apache, email, cups and samba currently.
- Comment on Even Apple finally admits that 8GB RAM isn't enough 1 week ago:
There is a project being worked on called Darling, but it isn’t ready yet. The developers are making progress though.
- Comment on Even Apple finally admits that 8GB RAM isn't enough 1 week ago:
I actually bought a m1 mini for a linux low power server. I was getting tired of the Pi4 being so slow when I needed to compile something. Works real well, just need the Asahi team to get TB working. And for my server stuff, 8gb is plenty.

Honestly it just sounds like they are using a LOT of reverb on it to me.
- Comment on Motherboard makers apparently to blame for high-end Intel Core i9 CPU failures | Ars Technica 2 months ago:
What I found interesting is that the “Intel baseline” setting doesn’t seem to be the default. So if a builder sells a pc and manually sets it and the user needs to update/reset the settings to default, they will go back to unlimited.
- Comment on Motherboard makers apparently to blame for high-end Intel Core i9 CPU failures | Ars Technica 2 months ago:
That is 253watts at 1.21ish volts. Multiply those together and you get around 307. Divide 307 by 253 to get the exact voltage based on those number.
- Comment on Is an ARM mini PC with only 2GB RAM and 16GB storage worth buying? 2 months ago:
I will just say it uses an ARM A5 which was introduced in 2011. It is 32bit processor which could be problematic as most linux distros are moving or have moved to 64-bit. And most importantly only has USB2.0 ports.

Another option is seizures from strobing lights. See a doctor.
- Comment on TV Station Launches Multiple 4K Broadcasts OTA on ATSC 1.0 3 months ago:
I am not really sure what ATSC3.0 brings that 1.0 doesn’t have besides the codec features. I doubt it adds much on the bandwidth side.
- Comment on Will Gamers Nexus feature Adata's 10% DDR5 temp improvement? 3 months ago:
Shouldn’t the math be degrees over ambient? So 22C would be (56C - 48C)/56C = 14%. Seems like marketable market speak.
- Comment on Why It Was Almost Impossible to Make the Blue LED 4 months ago:
The leds can work for like 20 years. On the other hand the rest of the components are not necessarily going to last that long unfortunately.
- Comment on Why It Was Almost Impossible to Make the Blue LED 4 months ago:
The last like 3 computer cases have had blue power leds. They often are brighter than night lights. I have gotten to the point where I only connect the power button as the leds are so bright and the number of times I’ve inadvertently hit the reset button.
- Comment on Smart TVs must showcase Australian free-to-air channels alongside streaming services under proposed legislation 4 months ago:
I would be willing to pay more as they are subsidizing the cost with the advertising. I have seen computer monitors are coming with ‘smart’ functionality now. Don’t want that.

- Comment on Tesla claims California false-advertising law violates First Amendment 6 months ago:
This kind of “self driving” shouldn’t even be legal. Giving a driver a explicit reason not to pay attention but still instructing them and expecting them to pay attention is a recipe for disaster. I don’t know whose bright idea that was, maybe an accident lawyer, but it has been quite deadly.
- Comment on Blade Runner director Ridley Scott calls AI a "technical hydrogen bomb" | "we are all completely f**ked" 7 months ago:
I think that this has been grossly overblown with regards to the available ‘AI’ related stuff. Sure some of it it cool, but a lot of it isn’t ready to be a real product. It amazes me that all these companies are will to put themselves liable for what these things will undoubtably say.
A lot of the AI are just tools, good when used right, bad when used badly.

- Comment on Sony facing $7.9 bln mass lawsuit over PlayStation Store prices 7 months ago:
Which is weird as the only Epic game I am aware of they had on the app store was Fortnite and that is free.
- Comment on Sony facing $7.9 bln mass lawsuit over PlayStation Store prices 7 months ago:
If they only took 5%, the games would be the same price. If Sony loses expect them to raise the price of the PS5 there to above cost.
It makes no sense why everyone, not developers, complains about Apple inflating the cost to users. If anything Apple’s App Store is deflating the cost of apps. Hundreds of thousands apps at $0.99(usd) and before the app store would have cost $10 to $30 or more before that on the available platforms. I have only seen in the last couple/few years apps start selling at a closer price that are expected on other platforms, but that is hard when consumers are expecting $0.99. I think there are a couple of RE games selling at similar prices to their pc/console equivalent. It is a real problem for Apple getting more games on their platform.
- Comment on YouTube blames ad blockers for slow load times, and it has nothing to do with your browser | The delay is intentional, but targeting users who continue using ad blockers, and not tied to any browse... 7 months ago:
Even so, it is still more profitable than the advertising revenue a lot get. There are big creators that would prefer the views. They can also do sponsored spots.

There are other ways to give to creators. You can tip, many have stores, patreon and floatplane among other ways.

So if I use Firefox I have a choice between a 5sec delay or a 5sec delay and ads. That seems like an easy choice.

- Comment on Apple Gets 36% of Google's Safari Search Revenue 7 months ago:
So am I understanding that correctly that the $20B is the 36%? That would put the revenue just for Safari users at $55B per year.

Yeah, but this time we can all talk about it in realtime with the rest of the world.
- Comment on US to build new nuclear gravity bomb 8 months ago:
I would lean to reliability and speed. Ballistic missiles don’t get a lot of testing while the bombers are flown regularly and takeoff/land pretty much anywhere .
- Comment on ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Used AI For A Dead Voice Actor’s Performance, With Permission 8 months ago:
Ai is really just a tool. How it is used, good or bad, and whether the person’s likeness is used with permission is controlled by people who make decisions.
