I think it would also bring in more developers. So more changes would eventually make its way into the kernel.
- Comment on What if we started uploading YT videos to PeerTube? 9 hours ago:
Admins have the ability to add upper limits to user uploads. I set mine to 100gb but it’s a family instance.

If you have the rights or it’s cc then that’s fine.
If you don’t make sure you have permission from the creators or rights holders.

In many ways, open source started because of printers medium.com/…/the-story-of-open-source-so-far-bfcb…
complaining (and doing something) is what started the whole thing.

Ive used this in the past to host an email server. Eventually, my ISP actually stopped allowing people to use mail ports, so I had to discontinue. But it worked very well when I used it many years ago.

I wouldn’t mind paying a small amount to a dev who’s app pulls in ALL fedi feeds. Donation or otherwise.

That would be cool. Closest I have is just a pinned link via Firefox.

I’ve had more luck finally throwing docker on it and letting it sit on an excising yunohost.

Like 95% of my games now just target SD. Its so easy to work. And it works with emulation, its very open.
- Comment on What's up, selfhosters? - Sunday thread 6 days ago:
Sure! Truthfully, unless it’s dead simple I’m going to let others host. I used to do dev work with it once in a while but I it burnt out quick given the fast pace nature.
- Comment on What's up, selfhosters? - Sunday thread 6 days ago:
I tried getting it setup but it didn’t want to work on my system. The docker container didn’t work with some errors and the docs seem like they need a bit of work. I love piefed, but if it takes more than a weekend to setup then I personally don’t have enough time.
Great software though.

I’m starting to see mastodon users on my tiny pixelfed server. It’s such a good feeling.
On the sad side, my Lemmy update went south and I had to remove it off my setup. Still looking for a good replacement for max two users. Something dirt simple like GoToSocial turned out to be.

That’s terrible…
Just fyi there is some good publishers like baen that still support and don’t plan on removing ebook format downloads.

I remember there were reddit likes too, they just didnt work with fediverse. And were mostly…well almost all were unsavory. Like they were ONLY populated with people reddit didnt want anymore. So not the greatest.
Im glad lemmy/piefed/kbin and all other activityhub/fediverse alternatives are out there.

- Comment on What are some of the non-technical parts of the fediverse that appeal to you? 1 week ago:
Artists (Capital ART) are on the fediverse. Things and art I have never seen before.
There are makers that are truly doing things that are super awesome. Building machines/automation that are helping out their lives. You can find these things on the open web as well, but not as “free” (IE locked behind some sort of wall).

Cant seem to get it working? I tried the hashtag, its not doing anything, no change registered.
- Comment on Why are headhunters or recruiters so laser focused on getting my resume? 1 week ago:
In years past, it used to be something they would use their software for and pair up keywords with jobs.
Nowadays they are probably mining AI, seeing what businesses you worked for and mining the data so learn what their competitors are up to, and/or actually getting you setup for jobs.
