Amazing and beautiful game, the only issue I have with endless * series is that the combat always falls short for me, but you can still easily get a few dozen fun hours out of it.
- Comment on "PSN isn't supported in my country. What do I do?" Arrowhead CEO: "I don't know" 6 months ago:
It was a bit frightening for me to see how quickly the mob turned on AH during this fiasco and just how much vitriol and propaganda has been generated on the subreddit like this is any other ingame operation with the associated shitposting... except this time it could very well shape the futures of real people and fate of the company for years to come.
Unfortunately this is the only way to accomplish anything. If there wasn't an outcry like this both AH and sony would just ignore any criticism and move on until it gets buried and forgotten. It's a world of extremes and the scales could have easily tipped into the other side, with people rightfully complaining about these shitty practices but getting ridiculed for complaining about just another account or sth.
- Comment on Which RSS aggregator do you use? I cannot seem to find one that works for me. 6 months ago:
Does Fluent Reader count? Doesn't have an amazing interface but it's free and simple to use.
- Comment on Best Linux Distro For Playing On Steam? 6 months ago:
Yep
- Comment on Manor Lords is off to a flying start on Steam, just hours after its early access release 6 months ago:
Looks really promising but way too much in early access for me to risk that price tag, I'd rather try furthest frontier or the game from the settlers creator since they are further along iirc. I do look forward to trying it out one day tho, seems right up my valley if they manage to add some meaningful late game goals or challenges!

I had issues with mint but everything worked fine with PopOS. Not a large sample I know but my 2 cents
- Comment on Reddit embracing all out enshittification 6 months ago:
Even as someone that's still active here, this would never happen. Neither lemmy or Kbin were ready to replace reddit in either features, stability or support, not then and not even today. It's unfortunate but reddit is not going to go down when there is no actual competition available.
- Comment on I think we should slightly rethink how login works on most Fediverse apps (Mastodon, Lemmy, but not only) 6 months ago:
I wish i could host my own simple lightweight identity provider and authenticator that is used for fediverse instead of creating accounts everywhere. Relying on fediverse to maintain both content, but also account info, seems like a really bad idea in retrospect (even if one day we get proper ways to migrate accounts but not even Mastodon does that well yet).
It's probably be relatively easy to establish services offering these for less tech savvy people later so they can just have a central identity service with which they can roam around in any fediverse they want later.
- Comment on How much maintenance do you find your self-hosting involves? 6 months ago:
Oh I think i tried at one point and when the guide started talking about inventory, playbooks and hosts in the first step it broke me a little xd
- Comment on How much maintenance do you find your self-hosting involves? 6 months ago:
Got any decent guides on how to do it? I guess a docker compose file can do most of the work there, not sure about volume backups and other dependencies in the OS.
- Comment on Subset Games created two amazing games: FTL & Into The Breach 7 months ago:
I adore FTL, can't believe nobody else tried to do something similar all these years.
- Comment on BBC: Extending our Mastodon social media trial 9 months ago:
Do people actually self host mail? I remember watching some conference that said it is basically a full time job nowadays to get your mails actually delivered if you're not one of the big providers. Much easier to pay one of them and just use a custom domain instead, and I can easily see this being a thing for the fediverse one day too (assuming it ever gets big enough)
- Comment on Passkeys might really kill passwords 9 months ago:
How is that different from a password manager (and those are excellent tools everyone should be using)?
In fact, the few passkeys I have are stored in my password manager.
- Comment on Mozilla CEO quits, org pivots, but what about Firefox? 9 months ago:
I often can't tell if they are just saying stuff like that to cope or they are really that optimistic/naive. It's a similar mentality to people constantly giving benefit of the doubt to kickstarter / early access projects that have like a 1% chance of actually living up to the made promises.
- Comment on c/Palworld, a community for the new monster-raming game 9 months ago:
Is singleplayer more compelling than Ark or Conan Exiles? Games like Valheim or Project Zomboid can completely take over my life but Ark/CE was always just kind of an aimless boring grind.
- Comment on I Wonder What Star Citizen Is Up To - Aftermath 10 months ago:
That's just one ship though, and it's just walk afaik - you can't actually do anything on it. It's hardly comparable in any way
- Comment on I Wonder What Star Citizen Is Up To - Aftermath 10 months ago:
DId you ever actually play ED Odyssey or SC?
- Comment on I Wonder What Star Citizen Is Up To - Aftermath 10 months ago:
I like to dunk on SC as much as the next guy but how can you say this at all with a straight face? For starters, can I walk around my ship? Is there a story-based campaign I can play through? Are there capital ships with dozens of players with different roles working on them?
SC will never get finished or live up to the promises it made but ED barely even tries to do anything beyond being a space truck simulator.

- Comment on Dyson Sphere Program - Rise of the Dark Fog (The Combat Update) is Now Available! 11 months ago:
its a pretty fun game but i wasnt a big fan of how everything eventually boils down to logistic stations, there is one best (and practically only) way of doing things and its pretty bland. Hopefully this adds some spice
- Comment on Bethesda confirms they are working on releasing new features you asked for, from city maps, to mod support, to all new ways of traveling next year for Starfield 11 months ago:
I'd say "i will pick it up on a sale in a year or two" but they're just going to release the enhanced / special / anniversary / superspace edition down the line too, so why bother
- Comment on Tumblr's 'fediverse' integration is still being worked on, says owner and Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg | TechCrunch 11 months ago:
Huh, I remember reading that it was canceled. Good news I guess
- Comment on Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released 11 months ago:
They have been amazing in terms of updates - regular meaningful updates every 2 weeks, it was amazing to see the game evolve so fast. I hope it means they just had a really good codebase and established workflow rather than they were crunching though.
- Comment on Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released 11 months ago:
Did you try it recently or during EA? They added an extensive guided tutorial/story now that gets you through the beginning.
Other than that, the best advice I ever got was not to go too wild with the glade openings, only do it if you need something otherwise you're just raising the hostility for no reason.
- Comment on Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released 11 months ago:
One of the best games I've played in recent memory, even during EA. Extremely polished and well designed, it's worth every cent and if this doesn't convince you I think it still has a free demo you can try.
- Comment on The Game Awards 2023: List of Winners 11 months ago:
Thankfully! Its not even indie, it's a good game but it shouldn't have been nominated for that category in the first place.
- Comment on Whats with the sudden indie output from South Korea? 11 months ago:
Dave the diver is backed by the multi billion company nexon iirc, it's not indie.
- Comment on Can I use two different drives? 11 months ago:
I always thought you're supposed to buy similar drives so the performance is better for some reason (I guess the same logic as when picking RAM?) but this thread is changing my mind, I guess it doesn't matter after all👀
- Comment on Debunking the Top 10 Myths About Mastodon 11 months ago:
I hope these kinks get ironed out as the software matures. I see no reason why people wouldn't be able to just rent a cloud server, run a few docker commands and have their own instance running one day. Maybe not for kbin or lemmy, but at least mastodon.
As long as we all continue to federate with each other instead of relying on some corporation to say whose messages go through and whose don't, there's a chance.
- Comment on Debunking the Top 10 Myths About Mastodon 11 months ago:
Not necessarily, email had to work well because businesses depended on it and (lots of) money was involved. Fediverse is a much more hobbyist endeavor and attracts groups of people who are not profit driven.
That could change sure, but that's why it's important to stick to these (FOSS) principles from the start. It's why it was important to reject threads in the fediverse and not let it overtake everything, which it luckily doesn't seem like it's gonna any time soon.
