Yeah, I bought my copy a few months ago and I can say it’ll be a journey. It’s definitely taking me a while to finish. It’s not that this book trilogy is bad—on the contrary, I’m really enjoying it—but after every chapter, I feel like I need to pause and process what I just read. Plus, being a teacher with a heavy reading workload already, I inevitably have to break my reading momentum every now and then.

I keep wondering how this saga is going to wrap up. You can see significant growth in the main characters, but the villains' power scaling almost feels overwhelming by comparison. What happens in Chapter 28 was far too tragic to forget anytime soon. On to the next one!

A few parts really stood out. A ton happens—that’s a fact—but certain events were massive enough to practically reset the whole world! I really liked the character arcs for Josua and Vorzheva (which was tough to get through at first because Josua is so pigheaded, but improves dramatically by the end) as well as Simon and Aditu. >

That’s not to say it’s a bad book—quite the opposite. Stone of Farewell is classic "middle-book" material, and I knew what I was getting into beforehand. Certain plot points have to be moved into place, setups for the finale need to be built... you know how it goes. Plus, Tad Williams’ writing is marvelous; the man is extraordinarily talented. >

@DHS Currently, I am immersed in reading “Stone of Farewell” by Tad Williams. This reading has proven to be a challenge, as it is the infamous “middle book” of a trilogy, where everything seems to go wrong in a single extensive volume. It is an adventure filled with suffering, spread across countless pages, lol. At the same time, I am also enjoying a classic of Brazilian literature, “Dom Casmurro” by Machado de Assis.

Invisible Cities is an incredibly fascinating book. There is a constant lyricism and ambiguity to it that brings out new meanings with every reading. It is definitely worth a read.
