I got into contact with the organizer of FOSS North who took hold of the conf.tube domain name, when the Peertube instance hosted there shut down. For details, see the follow-up I created on the Social coding commons forum at:

Do different app domains have different requirements for content preservation
Quoting my toot in response to a poll by @evan on what would happen to the fediverse if mastodon.social went down. Microblog content is quite ephemeral, and if content doesn’t migrate it is not a huge deal for the most part. This is different for other app types, like Software > PeerTube video content in this case (cc @chocobozzz) ..
The story of #microblog migration is reasonably okay esp. for masto-to-masto. Microblog content is relatively ephemeral, and its not too bad to leave your old content behind.
I left a sizable account @humanetech@mastodon.social behind, built around Humane Technology advocacy, which I later completely erased from that server. I also once erased the history of this account, to demonstrate the ephemerality, and that we shouldn’t use #microblogging for valuable discussions we like an archive on, like ActivityPub development.
For different domains, such as video apps like peertube, this is a different story, archiving more important. I recently found out that perhaps the ActivityPub Conference 2020 videos have been lost, where instance https://conf.tube redirects to @fossnorth channel at https://peertube.anduin.net/c/fossnorth/videos
No one is responding thus far. It’s unclear who owned APConf channel at the time, who runs the new instance, and who runs #FOSSNorth.

Congratulations! I fully vouch for both of you to be admins, and it is delightful that you volunteered for it. :revolving_hearts:
- Comment on Moderation norms on SocialHub going forward 3 months ago:
The flagging and hiding is standard moderation functionality that comes with Discourse forum software, and is also part of the wellbeing procedures of SocialHub, as it allows things to cool down when controversy and heat comes into a discussion. And allows moderators to take a neutral position between the persons involved, so they can come to reason and reconciliation without having to perform on a public stage, facing tribunal for what may be only a minor thing. And also and on public media channels that may be archived forever, carving your bad Monday in stone. Thus I think it is a very good thing, and not doing so is comparable to a manager that calls an all-hands meeting with the entire company’s personnel for any minor workfloor conflict.
I was the one who flagged two consecutive posts, and mentioned publicly that I did. A well-moderated forum would see the community staff enter DM’s and bring the two of you together and ask both “how can you reformulate that text more friendly and in line with our CoC, and are you willing to do so?”. The outcome of handling the flag determines the visibility status. Severe harrassment would remain invisible, and minor things might be left unchanged or revisioned, where the forum still offers the revision control to see the original text.
That said, there is something to say for a downvote treshold, before flagged posts become hidden. I don’t know if the software supports that. And also it is more appropriate for active forums that are frequented with many members who truly care about community health. Not the low visitor numbers of passers-by that this forum has, and where there really is no such thing as “community” in any other than the most general sense.

- Comment on Fediverse logo or icon proposal 5 years ago:
Yes, you are right that there should be a relationship with ‘Social’ and a contrast with traditional social media. I also think it is very good to mention ‘People’, whereas the old media mention ‘users’. And then there is ‘fediverse’ and ‘federation’, which are a bit abstract. But what they do is to bring people together from all around their world, interconnecting many ‘micro’ social platforms… connecting --> uniting. People (re)united with Social. People united.
Hence:
Fediverse
People. Social. United.
- Comment on Fediverse logo or icon proposal 5 years ago:
One thing that is missing is a combination of the Fediverse logo with the name “Fediverse” and maybe an additional tagline/slogan in both horizontal and centered alignment. Right now AFAIK we only have the logo icon. E.g. in this layout:
Fediverse
The People's Web
Note: I just tooted the Fediverse to come up with proposals and submissions…
(PS. There’s also this nice 3D version of the logo above, I just found.)
