Really neat of you to do and to share, thanks. Not to sound ungrateful, but honest question… What good are these numbers if they are the floor?
- Comment on Anyone know a good Selfhosted yt-dlp manager? 1 week ago:
I’ve been using YouTube-DL
- Comment on Is this a good first homeserver? 2 weeks ago:
Note about the network: it really doesn’t matter how fast your server can go if the rest of the stuff connected to it can’t also handle it.
You have a server with a 10 gigabit network port, you also need the cabling, router, switches, and other hardware that can handle 10 gigabit.

Or secure, often.
- Comment on Codeberg bans vibe coded projects 4 weeks ago:
I hate genAI, but this is dangerous. I’m a writer and I’ve had my stuff accused of being genAI when it’s not. And there was an incident several years ago on a prominent art subreddit where an artist was banned for posting AI art, and when the artist proved it wasn’t by sending layer files, the mod upheld the ban and told the artist they should change styles because it “looked” like genAI. It’s not a great feeling.

TOS get rewritten way more often than once every ten to twenty years lol, that it really not a big deal.
- Comment on [AIT] paperless-ngx 3.0.0 4 weeks ago:
I may be mistaken, but I had looked into Paperless before and saw they had AI features before this. Is it just more, or more in your face? I was under the impression they were optional, at least when I looked into it.
- Comment on Looking for a YouTube monitor and downloader. Sorry if wrong place for question. 4 weeks ago:
Can I have it download videos discriminately? For example, exclude live streams, ignore videos under 2 minutes, only download videos from 2025, only download videos uploaded on Mon-Fri? Furthermore could I have it download one playlist from a channel in 1080p, and a separate playlist from a channel in 720p?
- Comment on Looking for a YouTube monitor and downloader. Sorry if wrong place for question. 4 weeks ago:
The one I’m talking about runs in Docker and will auto download from a channel or playlist based on all kinds of rules and filters you set up. I use it up scrape favourite channels automatically every other day. Downloads them into a folder monitored by Jellyfin.

- Comment on Who is enjoying good success with Mealie's Meal planner? Does anyone have advice on how to tighten up the rules? I don't quite have as many queries as the Kodi or navidrome smart playlist function to play with. 5 weeks ago:
Only using Mealie as a recipe manager at the moment. Haven’t used the meal planner function. Sounds interesting though and might give it a try.

As long as Gabe can afford a single yacht, as far as I’m concerned.

SOMA is one of the greatest games of all time in my very humble opinion. Go in blind, don’t look up anything about it.
- Comment on Is there anyone that would be interest in doing a video call with me to show me how all this cloudflare/nginx/authentication works? I can pay 1 month ago:
When I was starting out with selfhosting and stuff, I had tons of issues with networking, reverse proxies, etc. And much of the advice here was not… particularly helpful. I genuinely don’t think most people here understand how much they know, and how much comes across as gibberish when they speak to a true newbie. I still see it in this forum all the time for new people. Just the other day someone described themselves as a total newbie, nothing more than Jellyfin running on a Mac locally, and a comment I saw suggested their next step should be running proxmox and setting up VMs and this that and the other service. Like… that’s not a good next step.

My partner and I quite like Mealie. It doesn’t import 100% perfectly like you say, but it does probably 90% of the work.

Understatement much?
- Comment on [META] Are paid for closer source advertising appropriate? 1 month ago:
There is no rule about advertising in the sidebar. I’m personally fine with it. If it weren’t advertised here, I might never hear about projects to be honest. Almost everything I’m hosting right now came about because I heard about it on a forum.
- Comment on Laptop as server, how to best manage battery? 2 months ago:
There’s no supposing necessary. It was a fire hazard, and presently not eventually. When something has caused a fire, it’s no longer a hazard, it’s just, you know, a fire.
- Comment on Why I moved my Plex library to Jellyfin after 14 years 2 months ago:
Why let perfect be the enemy of good?
“tailscale might enshittify in the future” is honestly a poor argument against “plex is enshittified right now”

Then call it Matrix. They don’t need to know and probably don’t care about the specific server software you’re using.

Public companies are almost more likely to do this, no? They have shareholders to appease instead of just private interests.
- Comment on Started Max Payne 3 whoa 2 months ago:
Max Payne 3 gets a lot of hate from fans of the original, but it’s genuinely close to a 10/10 for me. It was so goddamn fun, and the level design and setting was top notch. Loved the story too.
