their content serves mainly to broaden their reach. I don’t think you’re making things better.
When I started this campaign months ago I had to go back 8-10 pages of the local .ml feed each morning for crossposting. Today, it’s down to 1.5-2 pages and the bulk of that is from like 2 hardcore Tankie/.ml users (yogthos and Geneva) so I’d say it’s been more helpful than bad
Moreover, your posts are so fast and frequent that they dominate at least some of communities that you target, often leaving local subscribers without a chance to post about the relevant topics on their own. Having watched it happen for more than a few weeks, I have concluded that your posts are mostly annoying, and probably do more harm than good.
I don’t expect to convince you to stop, but would you at least consider delaying your reposts by a day, and then proceeding only if nobody in your targeted community has already posted about that topic?
Can you give me some examples? A lot of the comms I post to I’m like the only one posting to. But there are some larger comms I feel like get the brunt of it, but bigger comms also have 2 or 3 alternatives across different instances
So maybe a better solution would be to just divvy it up amongst similar comms better?

Don’t worry, I don’t crosspost anything that’s transphobic or propaganda or that weird…spam post that shows up from time to time…
It’s a big reason why I can’t bot it lmao

Well sure, it’s not foolproof, but the vast majority of users are probably not using the default Lemmy UI (because it kinda sucks lol) and instead are using an app or other front end.

Taking content from them, doesn’t support their instance in any way. Upvoting, commenting and posting on comms on their instance does. Which I don’t do and by cross-posting content away onto non.ml comms it reduces their activity bit by bit but revitalizing other similar comms

So why include .ml links at all if there’s a sufficient alternative?

Yes, how horrible of me to warn you of someone who is transphobic.
Well this is what Nutomic, second head Lemmy dev and .ml admin has to say about the LGBTQ+ movement [Transphobia CW] lemmy.world/post/18236068

Not sure why you’d want to forward traffic to an instance who has admins that are transphobic and push Russian propaganda but you do you, I can’t stop you :)

That’s great! Then you should be able to just keep it to the rare image-only post that it actually happens on and not articles :)

No I wasn’t lmao tell me the front end or app that doesn’t show the crosspost menu, should be easy since you’re so sure

And I’ll do the same since you seem to have a habit of misrepresentation and lying by omission :)

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
> >I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms. > >Megathread on the issue > >Some highlights from the link: > >>"Don’t worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev lemmy.world/post/30580167 >> >>“See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn’t count!!” ~ Davel, .ml admin lemmy.world/post/30673342 >> >>.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia lemmy.world/post/29222558 >> The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: lemmy.world/post/18236068 >> >>“NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev lemmy.world/post/31595035 >> >>General negative sentiment to other instances who haven’t “seen the way” yet ~davel, .ml admin lemmy.world/post/27426510 >> >>“If you don’t support Russia then you just don’t understand geopolitics” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev lemmy.world/post/27352415 > >And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long. > >I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda > >On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.
