- Comment on A remote code execution vulnerability has been found in Microslop Notepad 11 hours ago:
RCE means exactly this, the ability to run any code on a remote device (the one running notepad).
It’s a parsing issue. I’ve encountered the same writing an MD parser for a website, not as trivial to solve as it seems. For a multi billion dollar company this is hilariously stupid. Why do I get the feeling someone vibecoded this entire implementation.

Yeah at least, it died with the rise of encryption
- Comment on The new Microsoft copilot key is impossible to properly remap. 4 days ago:
When you realise the main difference between an Air and a Pro is active cooling on the CPU on the Pro, it makes sense why the Air is a powerhouse. Knowing the M-series is very efficient, you’ll only notice the difference on heavy loads. (I know the Pro has more options, but it only makes a difference in specific workloads)
Paying the exuberant Apple tax for more soldered RAM and storage is something you’ll never see me do as long as there are ultrabooks without permanently attached storage.
- Comment on It's barely a science. 2 weeks ago:
It’s definitely just Maths with feelings sprinkled on top.
If you read a book by any investor they’ll talk about the irrationality of the market. They’ll say how daytrading should be mathematically impossible, but admit how some people do profit a lot from it.
I wouldn’t call it pseudoscience, because it’s like mixing maths with psychology.

Yeah I’d be mad as hell too, I’ve heard their customer service is pretty terrible as well. I haven’t really noticed the quality issues though.

Enlightening comment, what you want? Proof?

What are you on about? I’ve been running a 9370 for 7 years, only replaced the battery last year and now I’m back at 8 hours. I changed the cooling paste just the other week. Best laptop I’ve ever owned, the only thing I’d want is a larger trackpad. There’s just a small amount of coil whine so I might replace the fans if it gets worse.
Keeping in mind I’ve abused this thing, was in my backback on my two major falls on my eboard. Only bending one of the corners slightly. This thing is a tank and a powerhouse.

I’m drawing the line at paying for a thing that might be good or bad, mechanics like that are addictive especially to children
- Comment on EU lawmakers to study ban 'loot boxes' and other addictive features in video games 1 month ago:
Season passes and FOMO aren’t gambling, you get what you buy and although I don’t like them they are not the issue.
Lootbox systems are designed to be addictive as it’s paying money to recieve a prize with very bad odds. Glad my country banned them a while ago.
- Comment on Why do some Americans "feel ashamed" for being American even when it's not their fault? 2 months ago:
While agreeing for the most part, it’s painfully clear as someone in the EU how politics in the US empower far right rethorics everywhere else. While politicians in my country have condemned the actions of the US, the political landscape has shifted dramatically.
Everyone is pointing at the US because their politics trickles down into ours, not the other way around.
- Comment on Plex’s crackdown on free remote streaming access starts this week - Ars Technica 2 months ago:
Come on, I love libre software as much as the next Lemming, but the Plex TV and mobile app is leagues ahead in terms of usability over jellyfin.
I still prefer jellyfin for many other reasons, but in terms of UX and UI for the average person it’s an easy win for Plex

It’s like everyone collectively forgot Microsoft calling Windows 10 “the final Windows version”. How they avoided litigation about making non TPM hardware obsolete right after is bonkers.

- Comment on Google Confirms Non-ADB APK Installs Will Require Developer Registration 4 months ago:
They’re doing the same thing Apple has been doing for years, I used to run a self-signing application which ran every week or so by itself.
Workarounds are going to exist plenty, it’s just a slap in the face. Especially because the Play Store is filled with malware. Apple’s strict rules are horrible for developers, but at least it’s not as riddled with malware.

Also Portal Stories: Mel, Portal Reloaded and many more mods for the game all add one extra component to Portal which makes them completely separate games.
